Sage is having a hard time right now in dealing with her rigid aunt and uncle.

My life sucks. It totally sucks.

I am grounded until God knows when.  I got into it with Uncle Fenton and Aunt Reba over something stupid, and now I can't go anywhere except to church on Sundays.  I also have to help out with the chores; the only reading I can do is before I go to bed.

This is Sage McDermott, in case you haven't figured that out by now.  I guess I smartmouthed once too often about not needing Jesus in my life, and my aunt and uncle went ballistic.  They started screaming at me, calling me "demon-spawn", and they were asking me to repent when I really didn't do anything wrong.  It was crazy; I know my ears rang over an hour after they were done screaming at me.

This happened only the other day (Sunday), and ever since, I've been on the ragged edge of tears.  I don't like being here with my aunt and uncle; I want my mommy and daddy to take me back, love me!!  I don't need this shit in my life!!

It doesn't help that school is fixin' to start back up in just a few short weeks.  I am dreading school; the only good thing about school is seeing my friends again.  I haven't seen hide nor hair of them all summer; I miss them terribly!

Saturday, Aunt Reba took me to the store for back-to-school clothes; what she got me I wouldn't wear, even for special occasions.  Long, drab skirts.  Blouses with long puffy sleeves and high-necked collars.  Flat-heeled old-lady shoes.  Panty hose.  Bras that don't emphasize "my womanhood" so much.  I mean, come ON.  I don't wear stuff like this:  give me my black short skirts, tight fittin' jeans, spiky shoes, fishnet stockings, tight tank tops or shirts, or my "Wonder bras" anyday!!

That's more my speed, not what Aunt Reba got for me!!

That started it.  I started complaining; she said if I didn't like what she'd gotten, then I could just go jump in the lake.  She called me "disrespectful".  ME?? What about HER?? She was the one who started this, NOT me!!

On Sunday, at church, I started making digs about the sermon, and about not needing Christ in my life; and I could tell that both Aunt Reba and Uncle Fenton were getting madder and madder.  After church, they let me have it, right there in the parking lot, in front of God and everybody.  It was totally embarrassing.

Ever since, I haven't been on speaking terms with them.  I just stay out of their way, let them do their thing, while I sit in my room, trying to figure a way out of this mess.

Suddenly school is starting to sound really good right now.  A girl can only take so much before she does something crazy!!

I HATE my life!  I hate my aunt and uncle, and I wish I were with my parents!!

~To be continued.~

I see so many teens that feel like this young girl here. There are many parents out there that forget they have children and then when something bad happens they cry. trying to blame society instead of shouldering the blame. Well done. You have expressed this young person exactly.

Karen,

The poem is sad as Bonnie says, but this is a rebellious teen who will eventually get her act together. Won't she?
