Terri Ben Ami here. Nashi and Hyman's mom. Thought I'd write in here for another Nashi update. Well, not just Nashi, but the whole family in general.
Nashi continues to enjoy good health. Hasn't had any problems since her last hospital stay; she's gaining a little weight, hasn't had anything even as much as a seizure. She does require twenty four hour care, but it's nothing that I (or her nurses) can't handle.
I consider that to be a huge answer to prayer; you never know when she is going to become sick; that's why every day we have with Nashi is so precious!
Hyman is doing very well in the second grade; he has made some wonderful friends, whom he loves to visit after school or on weekends. It allows him time to be a normal little boy, time away from the demands of his older sister; this is what he needs: to be able to laugh, enjoy life, be a normal little boy.
We are in the process of adopting a little boy from China. His name is Xin Po, but we plan on calling him Wallace, "Wally" for short. He is perfectly healthy, just needs a family to love, care for him. (Xin Po is four, just a little younger than Hy.) I am sure Hy will enjoy having a new little brother to romp around with; it will take his mind off of his sister's medical problems.
We have been approved for the adoption; it will probably be at least several more months (to get the paperwork completed, to have another home study, etc., etc.); things like this take time. We are excited; soon our family will grow by one!
This is our first foray into adoption; it's exciting, but at the same time, it's daunting, even terrifying. We don't know what we are getting ourselves into; and we wonder if our child will even like us, or if he has some "hidden problems" that we (or those back in China) don't even know about. We already have one disabled child; I don't know if we can handle another one!
Nashi, of course, isn't really aware of this event that is going to take place in her life; she is going to be affected as well. There will be a new face for her to get to know, love, and I am sure that somewhere in her mind, she will try to figure out what's going on, and why there's a new family member. Nashi is very good at figuring things out in her own sweet time; it may take her longer, but eventually, she understands what's going on about her. She's not completely helpless, as some people often believe when they first see her.
Well, I have to get Hy and Nashi ready for school, then wait for the buses to pick them up. Hy takes the regular school bus; Nashi, meanwhile, takes the one with the wheelchair lift, and that bus is blue, and smaller than Hy's bus. I don't want them to be late! I will write in here again soon; until then, Yeshua bless and take care!
~Love, Terri Ben Ami, Nashi and Hyman's mom. :) (And soon to be mom to Wallace!!)
