In the last story, mommy wrote about raising kids, kids who are considered "special-needs" because of age, race, handicap, or because they cannot be separated from their birth siblings.
(I CAN'T believe she didn't forget a SINGLE name when she listed all of our names at the end!!!!)
I am going to take the story a little bit further, as I am going to write about the newer additions to our "International Family". She mentioned their names, and that's about it. Now, I DID write about Kwame' Jordan in an earlier story, but I didn't mention Mai Lee, Pu Li, Sergei, or Benjamin.
So here are THEIR stories.
Mai Lee and Pu Li are twin 8 1/2-year-olds from China, and they are both little dolls. They look exactly alike, except one has a slight limp (she had rickets as a baby, I'm told). They are extremely close, and they are quite friendly and fun to be around; but in public they turn quiet, shy, and reserved, and they are quite well-behaved. We got them last year, a year ago this past April. They are good kids, and they are usually always together.
Pu Li wants to be a rock star, and her sister wants to be an actress.
Typical little 8-year-olds.
Sergei Ivan is 6 years old, and he came to our family from Russia. He was born in Moscow, and he spent most of his childhood in an orphanage; his parents died when he was a little baby. Sergei is rather healthy (as are the two twins mentioned above), but he DOES have some behavioral issues that need to be dealt with, and he also has some problems with his hearing. His speech is delayed and at times it is hard to understand him. (It DOESN'T help that he speaks with a thick Russian accent!) But he IS presently undergoing speech therapy, which he enjoys, and he is adjusting to life here in his new home in America. He is a typical little boy; he loves bugs and worms, hot dogs, firecrackers, fast cars, playing outside, and just being active in general. (Mommy often kids him by saying that his uncle must have been the "Energizer Bunny" as "he keeps going and going and going...".) He is a cute little boy with short, straight blonde hair and big, brown eyes; he looks kind of like Hunter Hayes in terms of "looks". He is absolutely ADORABLE.
Sergei wants to be a fireman. He wants to make the siren go on the big, red fire-truck.
Benjamin Thomas is 2 years old, and he was born deaf and mute. He came to us from Canada, like our two older siblings, brother and sister Michael and Stephanie; but he came to us from Ottawa, whereas Steffi and Michael came from Montreal. Anyway, Benjamin is rather wild in nature; he is hyperactive in nature, and nothing really slows him down. He is like a modern version of Dennis The Menace excepting he has red hair and is younger. He absolutely LOVES to take things apart (just to see what makes them "tick", I guess), and he can often be found writing on the mirror with mommy's lipstick (much to her dismay), stuffing the toilet with wads of paper (much to dadddy's chagrin; we've had to call the plumber to unplug the john, thanks to the actions of a little red-haired imp by the name of Benjamin Thomas!!), and the like. He also loves to hide grandpere' Armand's false teeth, which annoys the flop out of grandpere'; the last time he found his teeth they were in the dirty clothes hamper!! He was really fit to be tied!!
And, as previously mentioned, there is also little Kwame' Jordan, who is ALMOST 2. He is from Africa, in Kenya, and he is of the Maasai tribe. He was born with a serious heart problem, and he was born blue and gasping for air. He's had two heart surgeries already, and he faces more as he grows older. He was born with Tetrology of Fallot, and he also had several good-sized holes in his heart. He still has some trouble with his breathing, and he still tires easily as a result; and he still has to be on oxygen when he DOES get winded. But despite it all, little Kwame' Jordan is an enchanting little ham who loves to make other people laugh, and he loves to show off for others. He is a delightful little baby.
So there you have it. Now you know more about little Kwame' Jordan, and you also now know about Sergei, Mai, Pu Li, and Benjamin, my newest brothers and sisters from Russia, Canada, China, and Africa.
