Young weather fanatic, Spinner Regan Patterson, of Atlanta, Georgia, continues his story.
I wish I were with my uncle Twister. He's gone weather chasin' again, this time in the Upper Midwest. Tornadoes there.
I wonder if they've seen any tornadoes this go 'round. If so, I hope they got far enough away from the twisters so they wouldn't get rolled, or that they didn't get hit by hail or lightning, any number of things.
It may not be the best way to make a livin', but boy, it does sound exciting!!
I'd love to do that instead of becomin' something I wouldn't be happy at. I thought it wouldn't take a lot of smarts to become a chaser, but in order for me to become a weatherman, you need to go to meteorology school. I guess there's a lot more to weather than just standin' in front of a camera, giving off the forecast or gettin' in a truck and chase storms!
You have to know what kinds of clouds there are, whether it's going to rain or be sunny (or snow or sleet or become foggy), how the weather is going to affect people, what kinds of clothes to wear. That takes smarts, so I guess I have to go to college. Darn; I thought it would be a piece of cake to become a weatherman! Guess I was wrong!
What do I know? I'm just a dadburned kid!!
Tonight on Discovery Channel, there's a program I want to watch. It's called StormChasers; it's about, well, stormchasers! (D'oh!!) I saw some promos about it on DC, and it really looks like it's going to be intense! Something I'd love to watch (let alone, do)!! I know I could be another Warren Faidley; he's the King of WeatherChasers!! :)
I just hope I don't fall asleep until then. I have to be in bed by nine, nine-thirty. School tomorrow. Usually I end up falling asleep by eight forty five, before it comes on. No wonder I haven't seen the show yet!! GRRRR!!
I asked mama if I could watch, PLEASE, pretty please?? And she said YES!! So, I'll hopefully stay awake long enough in order to see the program!! If not, I am gonig to be reallllllly ticked!!
Maybe mama can tape it for me. That way I wouldn't miss it; that'd be sweet!!
Well, I am going to go; I have to get ready to eat breakfast, then go to church by nine. I will write in here again soon; take care! This is your favorite (future) stormchaser-in-training signing off! I'm outta here! Bye!
Karen
Spinner is the perfect nickname for this little boy, he seems to spin through life LOL, thank you for this upbeat write

Chasing storms is like chasing a tiger, once you got them from their tails come the big question, "and now what?" because yo got their attention. I hope you have good running Nikes!
Fabulous enthusiasm which draws us in to the fascinating world of storm-chasing enthusiasts. I love it when young people find their true passion at such an early age - seems like a natural gifting to me - whatver that might be for a stormchaser: keen sense of smell, perhaps??!! :)) Whatever, this young man is in for a very interesting life! Stay safe and passionate, Spinner! :)) xx
What a wonderfully scary occupation he has chosen. Good for him. Great for you, for you will have more exciting writes to write. Loved this one, Love, Bonnie
Love the pic, and this write: to be a great chaser, Spinner has to go to college in order to understand what the weather patterns are like; if there will be a convergence of upper air masses (if so, batten down the hatches!), where storms are and where they're headed ... a degree in meteorology would come in handy. :) An excellent journal entry, well done, Karen!
