Hi! My name's Kata! Kata Danae' Fishugh's my whole name. I am five and a half years old. I live with my family in Texas, in Grapevine.
I am in kindergarten; my teacher is Ms. Penny. I love her! I have so much fun there; in kindergarten, I am learning how to write, spell, count. I can write my whole name now. K-A-T-A. I am very smart; my mommy, daddy, teacher are always telling me that. That makes me right proud! I work very hard at school!
At school, I have many friends. My best friend is Rachael Paxton. She is six; bigger'n me, too. I'm a little squirt. :) (Short like my mommy.)
When we're not in school, I go to Rachael's house, or she comes to mine. When we play together, we play Grand Old Opry, which is my favorite pretend game. We pretend we are famous country singers. She's Dolly Parton, I am either Loretta Lynn or Shania Twain; they're my two favorites! :)
Besides Grand Old Opry, we also play mommies, beauty shop ladies, or teacher. We would like to be mommies, teachers, or beauty shop ladies if we don't make it to the Grand Ole Opry.
People tell me I'm' right pretty. I have long, thick red hair that's curly, big brown eyes, and big, fat cheeks; I look kinda like a chipmunk with red hair! LOL Sometimes on the weekends if we aren't doing anything we go to the Opry (Grapevine Opry), which is always fun. I hope someday to sing there; it may not be the Grand Ole Opry, but it's an Opry, and that's okay by me! :) It's the next best thing!
Mommy has been helping me with learning songs. Some of the songs I can sing real good are "Coal Miner's Daughter", "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On", "Any Man Of Mine", "Jolene", "Jambalaya", and "Sweet Dreams Of You". When I sing, I make faces, try to copy the singers I see on tv, move my head, body, arms. I want to look like a country singer, so I practice hard. :)
Mommy also taught me how to clog, and daddy, he's teachin' me how to play fiddle. It's hard, but I want to please him, so I work hard at it. I can play about three songs; hopefully I'll learn more in the future. Maybe I'll get real good at it, learn "The Orange Blossom Special". That's my favorite fiddle song!
Besides me, mommy, and daddy, I have two brothers Kentucky (Kent we call him; he's seven) and Kasey (he's three), and one sister (Kadie; she's ten). They sing too. Now, Kentucky and Kadie have sung at the Grapevine Opry; Kasey or I have not. We have our own band, "The Fishugh Family Band". In the band, daddy sings, plays guitar, while mommy plays piano (she sings, too). Kasey plays tambourine; as for Kentucky, he plays fiddle, banjo, and mandolin, and he sings. Kadie just sings. Me, I sing, am learning the fiddle.
We perform at festivals around Texas when we aren't tied down with schoolwork. I like festival days best because we can travel, make people happy with our music/singing.
Maybe one day I will be famous; that'd be a big dream of mine! I'd love to be as famous as Loretta Lynn or Shania!
I am going to go now; I have to feed the cat. We have a cat named "Samson"; he's a Ragdoll, real stupid, but loveable. :) I will write in here again; this is Kata saying bye bye!
