Tuesday, November 4, 2008 (Election Day!!), 7:06 a.m., C.S.T.~

Dear Journal~

Bill here.  Am getting ready to leave; no, not to work, but am working at the church.  I am helping out with the election; I am working at the polls, to make sure everyone gets in and casts their ballot.

I can't stress enough the importance of this election.  Our nation as we know it will never be the same.  Values are being questioned, tested, and it is at times like this when we must be on our face in prayer, to pray that the right one gets in.

Our future is depending on it.  Never has their been so much in the way of media attention on the two main candidates (John McCain and Barack Obama), or even on the two vice president candidates (Sarah Palin or Joe Biden). 

The campaign has been long, hard, and dirty.  Lots of mudslinging going on; the only ones getting dirty are not the candidates themelves, but the American people.  We are desperate for change; however, I worry about what direction we may be headed.

I have already voted (as has my wife, Louie, and our kids who are of legal age); we have made our voices heard.  I pray those who haven't voted yet will vote with their heads, not just with their hearts. 

We voted last week.

Because I am working at the election, I am off from Wal*Mart today.  I can use a break; work at WallyWorld has been stressful lately.  Compared to WallyWorld, this day will be a breeze! :)

Well, Louie got some good news regarding one of her friends.  Her friend in Alaska, Kat Delchamps-Hammer, is now a mama.  A bouncing (little) baby boy.  Born three days ago, on the first.  Name's Franklin Delano Hammer, Jr.  Healthy, no signs of defect or disability, which is a huge answer to prayer!

Note to self:  get a baby congrats card for Kat and Frank, make sure it gets out in the mail!!

Our family is fine; no illness to speak of.  In fact, it's been a while since we've had to utilize the local EMS.  I pray it continues.

The Harvest Festival went without a hitch.  Over 3,000 people attended; it was a wonderful time in the Lord.  The kids who came got plenty in the way of treats (no tricks!), the festival attendees heard some wonderful gospel music from the Kevin Spencer Family (they were fantastic), and several dozen people came to the Lord, accepted Him as their Savior.  So I'd say the festival was a rousing success! 

Time to plan for next year!  :)

Now the focus shifts to the Veteran's Day celebration, Thanksgiving (we're feeding the needy of our community that day), and also the Christmas Cantata.  Busy times ahead for Christ Community Assembly of God!!  This is our busy time of the year; time to kick it up a notch, get involved!

I pray the upcoming events at CCAofG are as successful as the Harvest Festival was!

The weather here has been pretty.  Azure blue skies, cool nights, warm, mild afernoons.  We do need rain, though.  Maybe by this weekend; we could have a few storms traverse across the area.  Hopefully they won't bring any severe with them! 

Our leaves are past their peak.  When burst of color once ruled, the leaves are now brown, rather ugly to look at.  A lot of the trees are becoming bare; the grass has turned winter-brown, and flowers no longer rule in our yard. 

The weeds have been pulled, the flowers are gone, and now we must winterize our house, to make sure we stay warm, comfortable all winter long.  They are saying it's going to be a cold, snowy one; we must make preparations now, before the snow hits us in the a**.

I love winter, but I also hate it.  Winter's the worst time for me, in regards to my arthritis.  I also have a hard time navigating across ice, snow on crutches.  If I manage to make it through an entire winter season without falling, I consider it a miracle; I have to be so careful!!

Well, I have to run; have to be at church by eight.  So I will let you go.  Take care, and may God bless America again!  And get out there and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!! Our nation is depending on you!!
