Have you taken advantage of Twitter yet? It's a relatively new social network where you can follow the lives of authors/speakers/friends/colleagues or people you admire. You can join (free) and then follow others to catch glimpses of their day and life plus you add updates on yours as well.

Right now, I follow 10 individuals for various reasons; some marketing, some publishing info and some are purely for social needs. Forty people follow me; some I know and some I don't. Perhaps they want the inside scoop on a professional speaker and author's life. I offer comments on the publishing industry, give parenting links and freebies, and announcements about my books. Then occasionally, I give my followers a real personal update, "I need serious dark chocolate and coffee."
