     You know enough about me now to know that:
a.) I am 13 years old;
b.) I am a tomboy in nature and love to play sports such as soccer, baseball, softball, and even tackle football with the guys in my neigborhood;
c.) I am a born-again Christian and attend a Pentecostal church with my family each and every Sunday and also Wednesday;
d.) I am Cajun French and Scandinavian in terms of background;
and e.) I play the Cajun accordion and have done so for several years.

What you DON'T know about me is the fact that I had been an only child when I had been born to my biological parents, and
I had worn glasses until the year I was adopted. (I now wear contacts.) I also had measles when I was six, and I had mumps a year later, at the age of 7; and I was in the hospital three times before I was ten due to pneumonia. (That was a bad year for me, the year I was 9.)

I have always been pretty healthy for the most part, but I DO get colds rather easily, and I DO have sinus problems and some significant allergies (mainly to ragweed and pollen, and also grass and weeds; and I am also allergic to poison ivy; get me around that, and I break out BAD; I have to get SHOTS!!). I am ALWAYS sneezing or blowing my nose, and I have to take sinus pills each and every day. It's really a drag, these sinus problems... I also get migraine headaches, and they are really bad when I have a sinus infection. OW!! Talk about *PAIN LINES*!!!

I also have a bit of a temper problem. I have a tendency to get mad rather easily, and whenever some kid is picking on me or my disabled brothers or sisters, I really get HOT!! I also have a tendency to fight back, and several times I have had to go into detention for fighting; and I have been sent to the principal's office more times than I'd care to admit. I'm NOT proud of that, but I HAVE to defend my family SOMEHOW!!

Call it the Cajun in me. Cajuns are known for their fiery tempers.

As I said in the beginning, I am 13 years old, born March 16, 1989. I was born in Church Point, Louisiana, which is near Lafayette, and I was born the only child. I have long, ash-blonde hair that is rather wavy and thick, and I have dark brown, nearly black, eyes; and I am short for my age. I look more like I'm 10 or 11, although I DO have boobs and the beginnings of a woman's figure. I also wear braces on my teeth(have at least 2 more years to go before I can get them taken off--darn it!!).

I was adopted when I was nine, four years ago; my parents died when I was six. (They died during a hurricane; they died in the storm surge.) I have been with my adoptive family ever since, and I have grown to love them all very, very much, even though it DID take time to get used to the fact that I now had brothers and sisters. (Remember: I was an only child before I had been adopted.) Being adopted never really bothered me. I just had to get used to the fact that my parents were dead, and this other couple loved me so much they took me as their own, and I got used to them being my parents.

My brothers and sisters aren't TOO BAD, but they DO have their moments where they drive me ABSOLUTELY NUTS!! Like the toddlers always asking questions over and over again, or the school-aged kids forever asking me to help them with their homework. Or the teens whining about their hair or clothes, or aout life in general. (Richard and Anh are REALLY good about that!!) The disabled kids aren't too bad, but I DO feel sorry for them at times because they can't help the way they are, and they need a little extra help. Like Ronee' and her hot baths each and every morning, just so her body can unstiffen from the arthritis ravaging her joints, or Johnny and Rhiannon and their breathing treatments. Or the fact that Todd and Jodie will never mature and will always be in diapers or unable to talk, walk, or feed themselves because of severe brain damage. Or Robertito doing obnoxious things like peeing in the plants or spitting on people or running (on his crutches) into the street and nearly getting hit. (It's no wonder daddy and mommy have grey in their hair!!) Or the fact that Johnny so happens to be dying, and nothing can really be done to prevent it from happening...

Yes, I realize that they are only kids, but at times I still wish I were an only child...

I am basically a good kid, but I don't like it when people make fun of me or my disabled brothers and sisters, and I don't like it when people try to take advantage of me just because I happen "to be a girl". I may be a girl, and I may be blonde, but..I AM NOT STUPID. I happen to be quite smart for my age!!

The only thing I DON'T like being me? My moods (they change faster than a cheetah on a hunt!!), or having my "monthly" each and every month; those are a GIANT PAIN IN THE BUTT!!!!!!

But other than that, I think I have it a lot better than MOST kids my age. I am a very fortunate kid, indeed. Call me blessed beyond measure!!
