Franklin Delano Hammer, Jr. My new baby son.
He is perfect; he is everything I could have ever wanted in a baby. Ten little fingers, ten little toes, a little small, perhaps, but perfectly healthy, with no sign of defect or disability.
Little Frankie is now seventeen days old, a little over two weeks. Hard to believe I'm a mommy now. I can't believe that all those long months of carrying our son inside my belly are now history, and that he's now here, larger than life!
I am indeed blessed!!
Frank is enjoying his new role as papa. He carries his son like a football; I'm always scared he's going to drop him! He reads to him, talks to him, tends to his needs (as do I when my health allows it); he is very proud of his new baby son. He is very good with him; I couldn't have picked a better father! :)
We don't get nearly as much sleep as we used to since our son came onto the scene; however, it's something we wouldn't trade for all the tea in China! Our cat, "Aurora Borealis Of The Far North", is (slowly) starting to get used to the "new addition" to our family; she's still leery of him at times, especially when he cries. Then she's not so sure what to think! LOL
Because of it being so cold here (highs in the teens at most, in the single to zero digits at night), we don't venture outside that much unless it's to the store or one of his doctor's appointments. When we do go out, we bundle him up in a pile of blankets (taking care not to run the risk of smothering him), until he looks like a miniature polar bear! LOL
Frank is taking some time off from his job so he can help me out with Junior. I appreciate it more than he will ever know; one day I will return the favor! :)
Friends and neighbors come by to help out with Junior; he is not lacking for love or attention! LOL
Well, Junior is crying again, so I must go now. I will write in here again soon; I'm beginning to see why Louisiana Sandusky and other mothers are oftentimes so tired: a mother's work is never done!! *whew!*
