Wayne Wright, feeling stronger from his most recent hospital stay, writes in his journal to let his friends know how he's doing and to wish everyone a fun, safe, happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Monday, November 24, 2008, Nashville, TN, 10:30 a.m., C.S.T.--

Dear Journal--

Wayne Wright here.  Sorry if I haven't written; haven't had the stanima, the strength, in order to do so.  Just got out of the hospital (again!) a week and a half ago; still pretty weakened, and on oxygen at night until the doctor takes me off the oxygen therapy.  Lungs still weak, have to have some help.

I have been out of the house a little bit; I mainly get out only to go to doctor's appointments, therapy.  We did manage to go out to eat at Golden Corral one day this past week (Tuesday, I think it was); I had a very good meal, but I got full; therefore, I had to leave half of it, take the rest home in a doggie bag.  LOL

I've lost a lot of weight since becoming sick.  I look like a skeleton; I look horrible!

Not really, but I don't look like myself; have to work hard to try to put the weight back on.

Thursday, I will get that opportunity.  Thanksgiving Day,  you know.  That day where piggin' out is the norm.  LOL  I am really looking forward to all that wonderful turkey, plus all the trimmins; just thinking about it has me droolin'!  YUMM!

The kids are looking forward to the pumpkin pie and the sweets.  Just as long as they leave us, their parents, some, we'll be happy!  LOL

Sarah has been a dear, keeping everyone informed as to how I'm doing, healthwise.  I have felt the love, prayers, support of so many people; I am indeed a very lucky, blessed man!  More people should be as fortunate....

Since being in the hospital, I've been taking it easy, taking it one day at a time.  I am using my wheelchair more now, until I get stronger; maybe then I'll get back to my crutches.  It's easier, but I'd rather walk, do things for myself, like I was before I got so sick last year before my kidneys went bad and I ended up having that transplant last Christmas.

Hard to believe it's been nearly a year since that time; and it's a miracle I'm even still alive!  Basically, the docs gave me a death sentence when my kidneys shut down; they wouldn't think I'd live longer than three to six months after that.  Well, I've fooled them, proved them wrong:  here it is, nearly one year later since my Christmas Miracle, my Gift of Life, and I am still kickin'!  (A little slower now, perhaps, but I'm still kickin'!)  :D

Because I've been sick lately, Sarah will take the children to see Santa Claus on Friday.  I will be here, while friends from the church come by to help me out, while the wife and kids are out.  It will be good for them to get out of the house; it's been really stressful for our family lately!

Not to mention, me!!

Well, I am going to go now. Going to lie down; feel a little winded; have to put my oxygen back on, rest, until I can relax.  I will write in here again soon, hopefully before Christmas.  Just keep me in your prayers/thoughts; continue to pray for renewed health, strength for me!  I would really appreciate it!

God bless you and may you all have a most wonderful Thanksgiving full of God's many bountiful blessings!

~Wayne. :)

Glad Dr. Wayne is on the mend. It takes time ... very well penned, the frustrations of the newly released (from hospital or illness).

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
