Ryan Lance here. I'm the one married to the Grinch. (Or should that be "Grinch-ette"??)
As I alluded to last time, my wife, Karen, has been having a time with her moods. She's bi-polar, is unable to work, and lately has been a real bear. She has been snapping at me, the children, for no reason, and it's really been stressful 'round here.
Karen hasn't been taking her meds ("she doesn't like how they make her feel", she says); this is why she's been flying off the handle without provocation. She's put our relationship with each other at risk, not to mention, the safety of our children. She's gotten so mad at times she starts throwing things, and I'm quickly reaching the end of my rope!
Well, I have decided to take the bull by the horns, take action. If Karen won't listen to me, I'll get her mother here. She always listens to her mother. Or if worse comes to worse, I'll have her admitted to the psych floor of our local mental hospital, let THEM deal with her moods! I've had it!!
I am more than willing to help my wife, but not to the extent of her endangering our lives! She's one of the most stubborn, pigheaded women I've ever known, especially when she goes off during one of her bi-polar mood swings!!
I will let you know what happens, and hopefully our Christmas will be much nicer (not to mention, calmer)! We have enough stress with the holidays quickly approaching; we certainly don't need to add to it!!
Karen thank you for sharing this and educating others about bipolar my step Mother, and a couple of my friends suffer from that disorder, it is not easy to live with, but its manageable if the person is willing to get the help they need

Thanks Karen for bringing to light the life of the ones in the family of the bi-polar person who does not take their meds. They suffer more than the bi-polar person as they are innocent victims whose help is refused. Eli is bi-polar..and with his medications, along with the meds for his autism and catatonia, he is a pleasant and hard working, considerate guy. The Downs syndrome is not even a factor now.
In old past days they had a snakes-pit, long time since, yet, we employ a lot of resurces to war and very little to ailments.
The worst of it, is that not only the patient doesn't get treatment but the family core suffer as well.
I am glad he is finally taking action for as I stated in last episode and my last review, to leave the children in that situation is nothing short of child abuse and he is as quilty if not guiltier than the mother. The mother is ill and not thinking straight...he is not and should think of the welfare and saftey of his children foremost above all. Glad this episode reflects that...good one Karen.
