The is a narrative about a woman experincing some challenges in her life...most of which, are brought about by making poor choices.

                      "No Time Left"

Karen's life needed to be transformed in three   month's time.  Yes a miraculous life-changing event needed to occur right away or else all of Karen's creative dreams were going to vanish.  Karen was facing leagal troubles that just didn't seem to end.

Karen's legal troubles had begun  ten years ago when Karen decided to elicit her birth father's attention.  Many of her friends and family members suggested she refrain from this course of action but Karen felt they were better off minding their own business.  So the inquiring mind adventure began.  Karen used many tactics in an attempt to gain her father's attention, but nothing seemed to work.  He just didn't want to open the door.  Karen was hurt and angry but she didn't give up.

She was a beautiful woman about five feet, five one-half inches tall with a lovely complexion, a great smile and a warm personality.  People always loved her right  away.   But, desipte all of her great assets, Karen acted poorly, making foolish decisions to get her father to notice her.  These decisions eventually took her freedom away.

Karen's father, grandfather and uncles were all attorneys.  This seemed extraordinary to Karen because she had not done much with her own life.  From age 15 to about 28 she drank and partied never thinking about getting an education, securing a career or doing anything wonderful for herself.  She was spellbound with other people's career titles, money and success.  So to discover that she came from a successful family with money, in Karen's way of thinking this was all the better.

As time went by Karen became restless because she wasn't establishing a realtionship with her father like she had planned.  Several years went by and Karen changed her lifestyle, freeing herself of alcohol, cigarettes and the wild life.  Doing so opened up her longing even more, especially Karen's quest to know who she was.

Eventually, Karen's father began to communicate with her through other people, and gifts of all kinds began to come to her.  But in 1990 Karen's inner child began to surface.  She felt lonely and cheated with "I want my daddy" thoughts rising.  She yearned to know where her father had been and why he had abandoned her.  Then Karen did something foolish that damaged her reputation and jeopardized her respect and freedom.  She began committing credit card fraud.

A year passed before Karen received a phone call from from an FBI agent.  The gentleman on the telephone asked her to come downtown for questioning.  Karen was not scared; she was even a bit excited at the prospect of her father the lawyer rushing in to save her.  Her thoughts ran wild as her inner child acted out for attention.  Karen the adult really did not understand the severity of what she had done.  She showed no signs of fear because she was confident her father would rescue her.  Karen's desire to connect with him was intense.

The FBI asked Karen many questions, which she answered, and thay advised her to  retain an attorney.  The agent wondered why she seemed happy at the news.  Of course he had no way of knowing that Karen was fantasizing about her father representing her.

Well, it didn't happen that way and Karen was very disappointed instead.  Another lawyer took her case and for the first time Karen began to realize just how much trouble she was in.

Although she could have spent time in federal prison, Karen was lucky enough to be sentenced to three years probation and nine months incarceration in a halfway house. She completed all her obligations to the federal courts but her legal problems didn't end there,  She was tangled up with the state court system, too.  Although her father had not helped her with the federal charges, he had secretly assisted her with the state charges.

Still, Karen continued to suffer emotionally.  She connected from time to time with her father, but her emotional baggage remained and she continued to act recklessly.  She kept violating her probation and had to appear in front of a judge several more times.  The judge and probation officer could not understand why Karen couldn't  simply follow their instructions.  She just wasn't complying with the rules.  Her inner child was still seeking her father's attention.

By this time Karen's father had died and one would think that she would have been able to move forward  more easily.  She  had served her probation, the time was up, and yet she had not completed what was required of her, even though the courts had even given her another year to do so.  This  extension  had frustrated Karen's probation  officer, Ms. Boblin, who was tough  but really tried to help her.   Even when  Karen was violating her probation, Ms. Boblin never recommended jail time.

It was now July 2006 and the summer had gotten off to a good start .  Karen had many unfinished creative projects.  Money was short and she had to appear in front of the judge again for the fifth time in three years.  Karen tried to remain undaunted but she couldn't contain her emotions.  She felt embarrassed and powerless.  She just wanted to disappear.  She knew the judge had given her four chances to complete her probation and move forward with her life.  And the judge had made it very clear the last time that if she appeared in court again without having completed all that was expected of her, she would go to jail.

Karen really didn't want this.  She wanted her life back.  There was something waking up inside of her which was bringing a strong desire to move forward.  Her past was beginning to fade away.  Her spirits were  lifted by a new desire to get her life in order and she began to pray, meditate and affirm that she wanted a better life.

Three weeks before her court appearance, Karen spoke to Ms. Boblin, her parole officer.  Karen asked her if the court would give her just three more months to complete her probation.  Ms. Boblin agreed to present Karen's proposal on the court date.

In court, Karen was in emotional turmoil and found it difficult to speak.  When they called, "The state of New York versus Karen Kaufmann" it took everything she had to hold back the tears.  The judge looked at her in total disgust.  The judge's demeanor alone was telling her this was no joke.  The judge asked Karen why she had not complied with the court order

Everyone waited for her response while Karen took a minute  to answer.  Her voice trembled as she explained to the judge that she had been suffering from depression and procrastination.  There.  She said it.  Miraculously, the judge approved her ninety-day extension.

This time as Karen walked out of the courtroom she was totally alive, her inner child lost all power to act recklessly.  Karen was filled with a new sense of life.  Someone believed in her and had given her a second chance.  Karen knew within herself that she could accomplish anything now because someone believed in her.  There was no time left.  She had three months to get her life back.  Her old comfort zones and ways of thinking were fading away.  Much opened up for Karen in that short period of time.

The courts had given Karen a chance to restore her life.  She no longer felt bitterness toward the law.  A divine respect for the law now embraced her.  She realized from her own experience that the law is not intended to destroy a man but to build character and transform lives.  It is man who destroys himself for lack of understanding and respecting others.

Karen successfully completed her probation and found emotional balance, her heart was healed, her inner child became peaceful.  She began to celebrate the creative beautiful woman God made.  She released her past and in doing so a creative artist emerged.  From chaos to creativity.  Her creativity took on a new positions.  She wrote many books of inspiration, short stories and even published poetry as well as several songs.

One of Karen's favorite sayings is now.  "Nuture your children, listen, love and believe in  them.  In so  doing,  this will help to complete the cycle to wholeness." Karen learned a great deal about time.  During   meditation a revelation about time manifested and she was introduced to how to calculate time in a day.  She multiplied 60 seconds times 24 hours which equals 1440 minutes.

So this is how you measure time in a day.  And of course the calculation goes on.  Karen now honors every minute in her days.  And she accomplishes whatever she desires to do in those days.  She now knows that there is no more time left to watse.
