Bee Everett writes this while sitting by her little son's hospital bed. Jaden is in the hospital again, battling the ravages of Tay-Sach's disease, a fatal, neurodegenerative disorder.

Bee Everett here.  Jaden's mommy.  Jaden's my two-year-old son; he has Tay-Sach's disease.

He was diagnosed with it when he was a baby.  Doctors don't think he'll live to be four; we might as well learn to enjoy him while he's still with us.

Jaden was doing pretty good, all things considering; however, on Christmas night, after coming home from seeing my parents, he started coughing, choking.  It didn't get any better after we attempted to suction him, and he started gasping for air, turning blue, so we called for an ambulance.

Jaden was rushed to the hospital.  He's still here, two days later, fighting for his very life.

We were scared we were going to lose him; however, doctors and nurses have gotten him stabilized; he now rests in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU), hooked up to a ventilator and other life-sustaining tubes, wires, monitors.

They have him knocked out, so he doesn't pull out the lines invading his little body.  He looks so still, and it frightens me.  We know he is okay for the time being; however, we still don't know the outcome of this latest crisis that's struck him, and it has us all on edge.

I told the doctors here to please do all they could for him; he's a special child with a little-understood neurodegenerative disorder.  They promised they would, but they couldn't hold out any guarantees as to his chances of survival.

Meanwhile, here I sit at his bedside, looking at his still, sleeping form, looking more dead than alive, trying to keep up hope, keeping the family members at home informed with the latest news about his prospects, praying silently to God, begging Him to spare our little son.

I haven't been home since this happened; I am sure I must be smelling pretty ripe by now.  I am seriously considering of asking my husband to take over the vigil; I am in desperate need of a change of clothes and a warm bath!

Well, as soon as I find out anything more, I wil write in here, probably in a day or two.  Just keep me, my family, in your prayers, as we face this latest crisis together!  God bless, and thank you in advance!

~Bee Everett.  :(

A heartwarming write. Here is a wonderful example of love--a mother's love--even though the word "love" is not mentioned. Well done, Karen.

Sadly, the questions will never be answered, maybe if one don't ask, if one just accept the burden, if one don't try to understand...
Many times reality are more cruel than fiction.

Why little children suffer is a question I want to ask God. :( Such heartbreak in these lines - well penned, Karen, you convey this mother's anguish perfectly.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
