Edwina (Eddie) Garcia writes some more in her journal, explaining what she goes through, in relation to her MS.

January 7, 2008~

Eddie here.  Edwina Garcia.  Hope you don't mind me writing, but I have no other choice.  I write as a way to help me cope with this monster I live with every day of my life.

As you know from my previous entry, I have MS.  It is very difficult to live with because I don't know what symptoms I will experience from one day to the next.  As an example, one day I can get around with just my cane, and on others, I'm using my wheelchair.

Or I have no trouble seeing one day, and the next, I can't hardly see 20' in front of me.

Or I have intense muscle spasms running along my backside or legs, and on others, I have but a dull ache that is more annoying than not.

It's the pits, living with this disease!  I wouldn't wish it on anybody, even those people whom I can't stand!!

Today is a bad pain day.  My back, the backs of my legs are screaming obscenities at me.  It was all I could do to get out of my bed without collapsing with the pain.  I'm now sitting on the couch, a heating pad resting agrainst my back, in hopes of lessening the pain.  It's nasty!!

Forget walking today:  today is a wheelchair day.  No doubt I'll be using it when I go out later on!

What drives me the craziest about this whole MS fiasco is when people accuse me of faking it because one day they'll see me in my chair, and the next, I may be on my crutches (or on a really good day, just my cane).  They say I can't possibly get better (or worse) that fast.

They don't know my body as I do, so who are they to say that??  Let them live in MY shoes for once!!  Then they'll see that having MS is no picnic!

My family has tried to be supoprtive of me, cried with me when the horrible news was given; if it weren't for them, or my friends, I'd have gone crazy long ago.  They are my saving grace, as is my church family.  If it weren't for my faith, life with this disease would be a lot harder to live with!

Well, I am going to drag myself to the kitchen and make myself some brekky:  my stomach is really talkin' to me, and it doesn't look like I'm going to get any relief until I put some food in it!  Until later, this is Eddie signing off!  Take care and talk to you again down the road!  So long!

~Eddie Garcia.  :(

MS like many forms of MD is an unpredictable condition, and believe me I understand what she is going through when people think she is faking it.

People blessed with good health should display more compassion to those with ailments, but then again we see the compassion between animals (lesser creatures?)that we don't see in some bipeds with no show of intelligence at all.

Let them live in MY shoes for once!! Then they'll see that having MS is no picnic!

People can truly be quite ignorant, especially with someone else's suffering.

It burns me when people that don't suffer the pain can't accept what others are going through. I had to quit taking care of my grandchildren because I can't tell from one day to the next ther sevarity of my pain. My heart goes out to you as I do understand.

Newfie Hugs are on the way, Rose

I know several people with MS and yes, it is a horrible disease.

That's what's so maddening about MS: you don't know from one day to the next how it will affect you. You capture it very well in these lines. Excellent!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
