Odd-Ball. Odd-Brain. Stupid. Retard. Chances are, if you ever see me or am around me, you might hear one of those hurtful names flung at me.
My name's Odhrain. Odhrain Patrick O'Toole. I am Irish, as you can tell by my name. (No, I'm Japanese; what ya think??) I'm ten years old, and I live in Carlsbad, California, with my family (my mom, my pop, and my older sister, Colleen, who's as smart as they come. She's thirteen and thinks she knows it all. If you ask me, she's a giant pain in the tukus!).
If it weren't for my learning disabilities, I'd have it made. I'm lucky if I get C's in school. Let's face it: I'm horrible at school. English, math, history, science, gym: doesn't matter. I'm bad at all these classes, much to my family's disappointment.
I read at the level of a first grader. I write like a kindergartener. (As I write this, I have spell-check, and my teacher is helping me as I write, so I don't put the wrong thing down. It's a pain!) I'm in the Special-Needs class at Hoverington Elementary; I'm one of the stupidest kids there. There's a kid, Toby, who's in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy, and he's smarter than me, even though he can't talk! He can make his needs known thanks to his word board, but he's as smart as they come; it drives me crazy!!
And then there's Gupti. She has Down syndrome, and even though she's 13, she can read third grade level stuff, and she loves learning. Me, I hate it. If I could get away with not doing any schoolwork at all, I'd be very happy!
When I am not at school, I am in my zone. I love to play video games (you don't need smarts for that!), skateboard, ride my bike, go swimming, go to the beach, go hiking, go camping, and go the movies with friends. (What few friends I do have.) I also love to watch television; my favorite shows are Lost, 24, House, and CSI. I love crime and adventure shows.
I don't like it when the kids call me names. I wish they'd leave me alone; don't they know it isn't nice to make fun of other people? What is wrong with them that they have to pick on me?? I didn't ask to have learning problems; it just happened!! If I could, I'd become Super-man and turn those bullies into a pile of kryptonite! Then they'd know better!!
Well, I am going to go; it's almost time for gym. Big whoop. Gym is where I'm the suckiest. Today we're going to climb the ropes. Oh, goodie. Let's laugh at Odhrain again, see how stupid he looks hanging on that rope! I know how the kids are! I will write in here again soon; bye for now!
