Dear Journal~
Louie here. Hope this finds y'all well, happy. I am going to be going to work in just under an hour; thought I'd write a quickie entry before doing so.
It's bitterly cold here. Today's predicted high here in Nashville? 0 degrees! That's a bit toooo cold for me!! BRRRR! I think my Cajun blood just turned into ice! And I have to get out in it!! (NOT good!) We had some snow overnight; got about 2-4" of the white stuff, so driving will be pretty dicey at best.
Guess I will have to do an awful lot of praying while on the road!
Actually, being on the road won't be so bad: it's getting out of my driveway that will be the fun part. My driveway slants, as our house is on a hill, and when it gets icy (or snowy) out, my van wants to go any which way it wants to instead of straight back! It's crazy trying to get out of my driveway when the weather's like this!! :{
Thank God the kids don't have school today. They get to sleep in, as does hubby. (He's off work today.) Lucky dogs! LOL
I have been writing to a woman in Georgia who is really going through a hard time. She lost her baby son to anencephaly last year; he only lived for three hours. I can't imagine the pain she must be going through (or maybe I can). Anencephaly is one of the worst birth defects known to man, and once a family's had a child born with this condition, they will never forget it as long as they live.
It's a horrible condition; I don't know why God allows such tragic circumstances to occur! Only He knows why, but sometimes it's hard not to question Him when you see it right in front of you!
Work has been busy: been working in the Neuro ICU the past few days, and it would have been peaceful had it not been for Mr. Goldfarb. He decided to stroke out, then bleed all over. He not only had a stroke; he had an aneurysm burst inside his brain. It was gross. It was nasty. No, he did not survive; that he died was a blessing in disquise because he would have been left a vegetable, with no viable way of living.
The mood around the Neuro ICU was, as you can imagine, somber.
I wonder where I'll end up today. As long as it's not MICU or Neuro ICU, I'll be happy. I'd like to work in Pediatrics again; I love interacting with the children there! When I get home, however, I always cry because the children are so sick; I hate seeing them suffering or in pain! It's bad enough when one of my own kids ends up in the hospital; then I have to worry about them too, on top of the others!
Sometimes I wish I wasn't so tenderhearted! I know you're not supposed to get attached to your patients, but they're people, too; they deserve to be treated with love, compassion! It's so hard not to get attached, especially when they are so sweet in nature! Now, I have had some mighty grouchy patients in my career, but the nice patients more than make up for it!
I treat people as I would want to be treated myself: with kindness, compassion, respect, love. I try to show the love of Christ in my actions, and it's not unusual for me to say a prayer for the patients I'm taking care of during my quiet (prayer) time.
My kids get a long weekend. They don't have school today, on account of the bitter cold weather (and the snow), and Monday is a holiday. They will no doubt find ways to entertain themselves. I just hope Bill doesn't let them go outside in the bitter cold; they can find plenty of things to do inside: play on their computers, or with each other, watch television, or read. Or sleep in. LOL
Just as long as they don't fight with each other, I'll be happy, but I don't have to deal with that, as I have to work! (Neener, neener, neener! LOL)
Well, I know this is short, but I have to go now. I will write in here again, probably in a couple of days. Hopefully by then it will be a little warmer; I just don't do bitterly cold weather all that well! It locks me up! Take care, and may God bless you mightily!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in (coooooold!) Tennesssee, Louisiana Mayrah. :/ *BRRRR!*
