Hi! My name is Jeremy Blaize Hughes; I am nine years old. I live in Spokane, Washington, with my mommy, daddy, and younger sister, Tatiana Morgana, who is eight.
Both Tatiana and I were adopted. Morgana was adopted from Russia; I came from Korea.
When you first see me, you will notice two things. I am very tiny. I am only as big as a one year old baby, if that. I weigh less than 20 pounds. I was born with something called primordial dwarfism, which is a very rare, extreme form of dwarfism.
In addition, I have a trache tube in my throat. My lungs were weak, underveloped, so I couldn't breathe that good. I needed a little help.
I breathe with this tube, but I can talk, eat just fine.
Mommy sometimes worries that someone will knock the tube out of my throat (or pull it out), but so far that hasn't happened. I am very careful, and I don't play rock-em, sock-em rough games like football or soccer.
I know better.
Mommy wasn't married until this past September; she had been seeing a guy named Mark Egginton, and they fell in love. They soon got engaged; this past September, they got married. So now I have a new daddy in my life. He's really nice; he loves to do things with me, and he tells the best jokes.
He's always making me laugh.
Like most kids, I love to do many things. I love to play video games, play on the computer (I am very computer smart), read, watch "Power Rangers", "Spongebob Squarepants", and "American Gladiators" on tv, and write stories. I am very good at video games and at writing; my teacher's always hanging my writing papers on the walls at school. She is very proud of me.
I am very proud of myself, too. I study, work hard at school. I want to make my family proud of me.
Once a month, if I continue to keep up my grades, my mommy and step-daddy take me out for pizza at Shakey's Pizza.
Tonight we are going to go out for pizza. I am going to have what I usually have: a tomato, cheese, and pineapple pizza, which is my very favorite! Yum!!
I love going out for pizza because I get to sit on the table and eat. LOL I am little enough. I sometimes get stared at, but I get annoyed, tell people to get a life, to mind their own business. That usually shuts 'em up or make them stop staring.
Mommy says I am very pig-headed. I have to be. I have to in order to make it in this world. I'm like a little doll in a big-people world; I have to do things my way, or else it's the highway. :)
I have no choice.
Well, I am going to go now. It's soon time for music class. I love music class; that's another thing I love to do: sing. Maybe one day I can sing on "American Idol"; I believe I could be good enough! :)
David Archuleta or David Cook, eat your hearts out!
~Love, your friend, Jeremy Blaize Hughes-Egginton, age 9. :)
