This may not seem that big of a deal to most people, but today, a miracle occurred in my life: I ACTUALLY got to go to CHURCH!!
I and my twin sister are both on vacation from work (we go back probably after Thursday, darn it; there goes our weekend again..), and today we went to the little Methodist church directly behind our apartment complex. (It was raining; otherwise, we would have gone to the church just up the street.) Karla and I are both nondenominational/Assembly of God, but unfortunately there aren't any Assembly of God churches close to where we could walk; so this was why we went to this little Methodist church.
(We work each and every Sunday; we don't get to go to church as often as we would really like to.)
We went to the church; and it was rather similar to the Catholic way of doing things--very quiet and unassuming--, but unlike Catholics, there is no praying to the Virgin Mary; the prayers are directed to the TRUE Source, Jesus Christ; and the people believe in the concept of salvation and accepting Jesus Christ. It is very Biblically based, but without the fire and fervor of the Pentecostal style. There is no Benny Hinn type of preacher, in other words; but the Pastor (a woman) proved to be quite entertaining. The sermon was about friendship and helping our friends; and she threw a lot of humor into the sermon. It was very interesting, but it was far from being boring!
You have got to understand something. If we had a car we would go to Victory Family Assembly of God or to Calvary Pentecostal, but since we don't have a car we have to walk to a church that is closer to us, and if it's raining, it sure is convenient having a church directly behind where we live; such was as the case today. Or we have to depend on our co-worker and friend to take us to HER church; she attends a Nazarene church. At least we got to worship our Saviour and spend time in the Word. It DIDN'T matter to us whether the church wasn't a Pentecostal one; as long as the Bible was preached, well, that was more important!!
We also witnessed another Miracle today: our neighbor, Flo, is basically homebound, and we have never seen her walk (well, I haven't, anyway; Karla has); she has usually been in a wheelchair or sitting on her couch; or if she DID walk, she would use a walker. She has a lot of health problems. Well, today, we visited her before we (and she) went to church (her son was on his way to picking her up, so we didn't stay long), and when he came she got up and WALKED UNASSISTED to the door, where her son held her arm; and they both got into the van. I was so amazed; she walked SO WELL!! A little SLOW, perhaps, but she still WALKED without ANY help whatsoever!!
Needless to say, I am in a VERY good mood. I saw God at Work, and I and my twin got to ACTUALLY go to church and spend time with the Lord!! And wonder of wonders: I even got to TITHE!!
Praise the Lord, isn't the LOrd wonderful, and going to Church is truly a miracle considering some are killed for doing that very thing, we are blessed to live in a society where we can go to Church, and have Buibles in our homes.
