Dear Journal~
Eddie here. Edwina Garcia. Hope this finds you in good health; me, I have my days. Some days are good; others, meanwhile, are pretty horrible.
That's the nature of the beast. As you know, I have MS. Multiple Sclerosis. I've had it for a little while; still getting used to its wily ways. Hard to get used to sometimes, particularly on those days where I seem to have no balance and have to rely on my stupid wheelchair to get by.
Today wasn't so bad. I did have to use my crutches, though. It helps having two extra "legs", but sometimes I trip myself with my crutch, and I end up on the ground, in a heap. It's embarrassing, sepecially if I fall in front of someone.
I like my crutches, yet at the same time, I loathe them. When I have my crutches, I can't carry anything without risking of tripping myself, and sometimes I hook my foot (or my crutch) and down I go.
I've had to deal with more bumps and bruises on my crutch days; I am getting so tired of having to explain every new bruise, cut, or bump to people!
And when I'm on my crutches, I get stared at, more than usual; this is when I want to find a hole to crawl into!
Other than having to use my crutches today, it wasn't that bad of a day. Very little in the way of pain, and my eyes behaved themselves: no double or blurry vision for me today. A blessing in disquise, I guess. It's just my balance decided to abandon ship, so I had to use my sticks.
The crutches I use are rather pretty: purple. I get a lot of compliments on them; why, I don't know; I don't think they're really that special. LOL I guess it's because people aren't used to seeing crutches of different colors other than medical silver. LOL
Well, I am going to go; potty break time! (TMI, TMI!) With that, I am going to lurch my way to the restroom like a palsied old woman and then get ready to go to bed: nothing on television worth watching tonight. On that note, let me say goodnight, and I will write in here another day. Take care and God bless!
Many people, not disable, need today crutches, while those that are dependant of crutches show a fortitude that many should put at work when adversity come knocking at their doors.
When diseases such as this and Fibro rob the young of their strength it is good to know that the Gods above usually endow them with the inner strength to survive and go on.
I understand how it can feel like a weirdo when you have to take some kind of equipment everywhere you go. I have to pull a trolly with an oxygen canister. The one's I don't mind staring are the small children. I let them ask their questions and they are so honest. I love to let them know it's okay.
Your purple crutches sound cool. I almost said fun, but that would be wrong if you are beating yourself up with them. (bad joke).
You could start a new fad of crutch art. Maybe I'll crochet a jacket for my oxygen canister, or sew it an apron. LOL
Tears again Karen many times I have had wheelchairs, walkers, canes but when I got well, I gave them back. God bless all that can't. Bless you Karen for again touching my heart. Love and hugs, Bonnie
I can relate to this one as I have all three helpers in my home, cane, walker and wheelchair, never know which one Ill be using til I get out of bed;-)Thank God I still can walk, most of the time, even if the pain is excruciating! Another great write Karen!
