Dear Journal~

Sagie McDermott here.  Hope this finds y'all well!

Well, we have a new pres in the Big House.  Yes, Obama has been sworn in; he's now our 44th president.  He promises to get involved in trying to solve our country's problems; we have a lot of those!  I pray he can!

Watched the Inauguration yesterday at school; it was very interesting.  Some sadness, though:  Senator Ted Kennedy, who has a brain tumor, collapsed, suffered a seizure, but hours later, he was released from the hospital and was pronounced fine. 

Then Senator Byrd became ill, had to leave early; they say he is going to be fine, too.  Whew, that's good.  I said a prayer for both Senators Kennedy and Byrd when I'd heard the news, I pray God heals them of their illnesses!

That kind of put a damper on things; but more good came out of the Inauguration than not.  Over 2 million people went to the festivities; I would have liked to have gone, but my aunt, uncle said no.  So I was stuck here in Colorado.  Besides, they said I had school; there was no way I was to ditch school to try to find a way to Washington DC!  LOL

Obama has two beautiful daughters, ten-year-old Sasha and seven-year-old Malia.  And his wife, Michelle, is one of the prettiest ladies I have ever seen.  They make a very nice looking First Family! :)

He broke the color barrier by becoming the nation's first African-American president.  He's also one of the youngest, only 45 or so; he's just a kid compared to past presidents!  LOL

Back here at home, it's still the same old boring life for me.  School, homework, church, chores.  BOOOoooring!  LOL  Not that I mind, but I'd love to have some excitment happen to me once in a while!

Let's face it:  my blogs suck.  They suck eggs.  LOL

I have a new penpal:  a sixteen year old girl in Tennessee.  Her name's Ronee'.  She's really cute:  long, very curly black hair, black eyes, dark skin.  Think she might be Spanish or something, but I don't think so:  her last name's French.  Reaux.  LOL  Maybe she's part African-American, or maybe Native American.  Don't know, but she's pretty exotic looking!  (She sent me a piccy of herself with her letter.)

Ronee' is a Christian, like me; she wants to be a country/Cajun singer when she grows up.  She says she sings all the time, and she's performed at different festivals, has even been on television a few times.

 Whoa!  I'm writing to a future celeb!!  LOL

I will have to write to her soon; but now I have to continue to get ready for school.  LOL

I know Obama will be the topic-of-the-day at school.  Those kids who say they're Democrat are happy; the Republic kids, on the other hand, will probably be quieter than church mice.  Hopefully nobody will say somethng stupid to start a riot; that would not be good!

Well, Bushie has gone back to Texas.  I hope he stays there; I did NOT like him.  He was an idiot!  When he started his presidency, he was good, but he's since screwed up royally; he had one of the lowest approval ratings for any president in history.  He was not very popular with a lot of people, even among the Republicans.  That's not too good!

Well, the weather here is cold, snowy.  Might get some skiing in later today or this weekend.  Hope so; I love being out on the slopes, with the wind rushing past my face!  To me, there's no greater feeling in the world!  :)  I absolutely LOVE to ski!  (Been skiing since I could walk; I am good at it!  Love hittin' those expert runs!)

I am going to go now; going to get some breakfast, then go wait for the bus; that comes by seven fifteen.  I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Sagie saying so long for now!  Take care, and may God bless you!
