Dear Journal~
Kat here.
Gettin' excited: the forecast has us warmin' up to five degrees above zero by week's end! I canNOT wait!!
Been such a hard, cold winter this yaer. Not so much in the way of snow, but the temperatures have been nothin' short of brutal!
If it gets up to five degrees, I'm breakin' out the shorts! LOL Not really, but five above zero is much better than -30 or -40 below for the HIGHS!!
We don't even want to discuss the lows! BRRR!!!!
Let's just say I've pretty much been homebound unless it was to take Junior to the doctor's for his well-baby checkups or shots, or for my own doctor's visits.
This cold has been really rough on my fibromyalgia. I haven't been able to move without searing pain all over my body; it makes for one very grouchy Cajun!
The only good thing has been a roarin' fire in the fireplace, two furry kitties nestled on my stomach, being wrapped up in three/four blankets (warm ones), and snuggled up next to my man. :)
That part I like best of all. He's good in bed, and durin' any other time! LOL
Oh, boy. I can't believe I just said that! Well he IS!! LOLOL
Junior is now three months old. He turned three months old on the eighth, yesterday. He's gettin' to be so cute: has a beautiful bald dome (just like his daddy!!), and the biggest, prettiest dark-blue eyes I've ever seen on a human baby. He has a happy personality, and I love his squeaking noises he makes! It's beyond adorable!
Looks just like his old man! :) ('Course, I ain't prejudiced. LOL) He could be a candidate for the "World's Most Beautiful Baby"; he'd probably win, hands-down!
I looked at my e-mail inbox earlier; looks like I have some serious letter writin' to do. Letters to Louisiana Sandusky, Mattaq Eegeesiak, Tina Evans, Raven Quiilliuq, others. I am not much of a letter writer; I'm horrible with spellin', words. I am severely dyxlexic; words, letters, and numbers cause me no end of trouble!!
When I was growin' up and in school, kids called me a dumb Cajun. Years later, I still recall their taunts. It is only by Frank's help that I've gotten better, plus I made sure the computer we got has Spell-Check; otherwise, I'd be in a world of hurt!
I love livin' in Alaska, don't get me wrong; however, I miss being able to get crawfish or Cajun music anytime I want. I have to get it special-ordered here, or I have friends send it to me. I miss the joie de vivre of N'Awlins, and the warmer weather. (As they say, y'all can take the girl out of Louisiana; you just can't take the Louisiana out of the girl. And it's the truth. You can't!)
I still talk like I was livin' down in the Crescent City. People say they have a very hard time understandin' me. Well, I can't help it; it's how I was raised, where I was raised! I'll always be a Cajun girl, even if I packed up and moved to Russia! LOL
Speakin' of Cajun, my very favorite Cajun band, "BeauSoleil", is scheduled to perform a concert of great Cajun music at the University of Alaska here in Fairbanks. I would really love to go; in fact, I have been droppin' hints for Frank; hopefully he's been takin' notes. He knows I love this band; I'd give anythin' to see them again! They put on a wonderful show, and I can't get enough of their music!!
If Frank could take me, I'd be the happiest girl in the world!! I think Michael Doucet, the band's leader, is hot; if I didn't have Frank Hammer in my life, I'd go after Michael! LOLOLOL
Also, Jimmy Breaux, the accordionist, ain't half bad either. *grins*
Well, I'm going to go; gettin' stupid. LOL Tired; long day today. Had a doctor's appointment, also had a dental exam. Also had to get groceries. We were runnin' out of food! LOL Now our 'fridge, freezer are burpin'; they're full to the gills. At least now we won't starve! LOL Take care, and may God bless y'all mightily! Love ya!
~As always, your friend in Alaska, Kat Ann Delchamps-Hammer. :D
