Dr. Wright updates us on what's been going on in his life. He is doing a lot better, but he's worried about his niece, Susie, who is acting strangely.

February 14, 2009, Nashville, TN., 6:22 a.m.~

Dear Journal~

Happy Valentine's Day to all you lucky romantics out there!  :)

Wayne Wright here.  Feeling better than I have in a long time; my doctor is going to discontinue the oxygen therapy soon, which means I no longer have to "walk the dog" every where I go, and that darned chest physiotherapy can stop!  Also, my spina bifida and kidney are behaving themselves; hopefully that will continue!

Family is well:  Sarah is happier than she's been in a long while (probably because I'm feeling better!), and the children are excited because it's Valentine's Day.  They get to spoil their old man!  LOL

I don't know what today has down the pike, but I bet somehow flowers and cards are involved.  I know I have my card and flowers ready for when my beloved wakes up.  Right now, though, the family is down for the count, sleeping like babies, while I catch a quick snatch on the computer to get this down.

I plan on taking the family out for breakfast this morning.  We're going to go to the Cracker Barrel.  I am sure the family will enjoy that.  Then after that, who knows what will happen.  The day is still very young; lots of opportunities at stake!

My joy, however, is tempered by sadness.  My niece, Susie, is having problems again.  I don't know the extent of exactly what is going on, but according to my sister Audrey (and Rebekkah Rachel Cohen, her very best friend), Susie is acting silent, distant somehow; it's as though she's shutting herself away from the ones she loves, and is retreating back into her own little world.  I don't know what her problem entails, but it has me quite worried.

I have alerted the church, and they said they'd be more than happy to put her on the prayer list.

Speaking of church, the other day, a sewer pipe busted, flooding the sanctuary.  Repairs are currently being made to fix the situation; until then, church services have been cancelled.  It may take as long as several weeks to a month, according to the pastoral staff.

I guess that means we sleep in tomorrow, the first time in a long while.

I'm sure the church sanctuary must smell pretty lovely now.  (NOT!!)  That must be disgusting!  I'm just glad we weren't there when the pipe decided to let go!  LOL

I've tried to get in touch with Louie Sandusky, to tell her about Susie; however, she's hardly ever home.  Working all the time, or else the family has doctor's appointments or some other goings-on.  Maybe I ought to e-mail her; she seems to get to her e-mails faster than her phone calls!  LOL  Or maybe Louie already knows about Susie; somehow news travels fast to her little ears!

Well, I know this isn't much, but as I said, nothing much has been going on with us since I last wrote, except my recovery from pneumonia and the fact that I'm improving, plus this situation with my niece, plus this church fiasco.  I hope I continue TO do well, and I pray, hope with all my heart that Susie comes back to us mentally/emotionally.  I also hope that the repairs to the sanctuary don't take that long!

I lead a pretty boring life ever since my health decided to go bad over a year ago.  Don't hardly go anywhere excepting to doctor's appointments, therapy, or church.  I sure miss working; hopefully down the road that will happen.  I miss the gang at Nashville Memorial!

Take care, and may God bless you!   Keep me in your prayers; pray that Susie comes back to her senses and that she doesn't do anything irrational!  I would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks!

~Wayne.  :)

So glad I'm not a teenager anymore ... still, Georg is right: this young lady needs help. Prayer will work, but so will intervention. Well written, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Teenager with problems today, one must take them seriously. We have seen the suicidal rate that are way too great compared with the teenagers of my time. Peers press can be one factor, other that permanent bombardment from the media's "ideal" physical appearance, Parents working all day to maintain the family afloat and with no time left or too tired to come in sync with the situation. Teenagers today should be given attention, before one needs to utter, " if I only..."

Good update and even if something smells in the church it is sad that a neighbouring church couldn't show some Christian charity and loan them their facilities.
