Dear Journal~
Milton G. Eddeston here. The kid others refer to as "Pig-Boy". I am sitting here on the bus, on my way to school, as I write this. I only hope that I can get through another day without the other kids hassling me.
I can't help it if I live on a pig farm, let alone, a FARM. It's my parents' livlihood; it's what they do. I am destined to follow in their footsteps. There's so much to do on the farm, but really, in all actuality, I don't mind it at all. It makes me forget of the troubles I face every day.
If it isn't the kids pickin' on me, it's dealing with my autistic brother, Haney, who, at nine, is difficult to manage. He is severely autistic; he can talk (a little), but trying to get him to participate in activities is like pulling teeth. He seems to be in his own little world, and it's frustrating. You try to communicate with a kid who would rather talk to invisible specks on the ceiling or plastic dinosaurs! Not easy to do!
When he does have moments of clarity, it's only for a brief time. Otherwise, he's zoned out.
The other kids are looking at me as I peck away at my laptop, but I personally don't give a rip. They should know by now that I do this, as a way of relaxation. Maybe they ought to try it, get their innermost feelings out on paper (or in Cyberspace)! It's helped me; I feel a little better about myself, and it's helped me deal with life.
The snow we had the last time I wrote has since melted. It's been cold, but nothing like we had. We didn't lose any more animals, which is a huge blessing. The power held during the blizzard, which was a huge answer to prayer! I was out of school for a week; that was the best week I had since Christmas vacation (winter break to everyone else)!
I do have a bit of sad news. Not so much about me or my family, but my uncle Travers. He lives in Cedar Rapids. Anyway, he had a massive heart attack; he's still in the hospital as I write this. He had it last week. He's still in the ICU unit, but may get moved out soon. We thought for a minute he was going to die, but amazingly, he's survived.
I don't know how long he will be in the hospital, but Ethelda, his wife (my aunt), has been keeping us posted. I pray he gets better soon; I really like Uncle Travers and Aunt Ethelda!
We see them on holidays, like Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas. They make the holidays much nicer.
Well, I see the prison in the distance (school), so I will shut 'er down and sign out of here. I will write in here again another time; until then, this is your (piggy) friend, Milton, saying so long for now! See ya 'round!
~Milton ("Pig-Boy"). :)
P.S.: I really need a new nickname! Seriously!!
