Dear Journal~

Howdy!  Louisiana here; hope this finds you well (or reasonably happy!).  I'm leaving for work within the next fifteen minutes, so this won't be very long.  Hope you understand.  Work today from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.; a long one.  *sighhhh*

Yesterday was the climax to all the Mardi Gras celebrations.  I completely forgot about Mardi Gras:  usually I wear some of my "th'ows" from previous Mardi Gras celebrations I've attended, and have the Cajun songs playing.  Yesterday I wore my scrubs, didn't even give Mardi Gras a second thought.

Then I heard about the shootings at the one Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans (several people were hit; thank God, nobody was killed; it was only by a miracle that they weren't!).  I'm like, "damn it, I missed Mardi Gras!"  LOL

Me, a Cajun, missing Mardi Gras!!  LOLOLOL

Think I've worked too many shifts!  LOL

Well, the Opry show has come and gone.  I think the two "stars" have just about recovered from all the excitement.  They did a marvelous job; we were so proud of them!! 

It was nice seeing all of our friends again; Jimmy C. Newman looks older, but he still looks great (he's in his early eighties, believe it or not, still going strong!!).  Reba McEntire was there, too, and she looked stunning as always.  When she saw us, she gave us giant bear hugs; for a little woman, she's incredibly strong!  Sweet as always!  One of the nicest people around!

For their performance, Johnathon and Ronee' did "Big Mamou" and "Jole' Blon'".  They had the audience clapping, hollering for more!  Seems that the sound of a Cajun accordion and fiddle always gets a crowd excited!  It never fails!

Sunday we didn't go to church; too tired from the Opry the night before.  LOL  We slept in until almost noon!  (Or at least most everyone did; I got up at ten thirty.  Still late for me.  LOL  I was a lazybums!  LOL)  It felt good to actually relax, enjoy life as a family!

I tried to listen to the speech last night by Obama, but he disgusts me, so I turned it off after about ten minutes.  I know I should respect him, as he is our newest president, but somehow, I just don't trust that man!  He gives me the heebie-jeebies!  I fear for our nation; God help us all!!

The weather here was pretty chilly:  even had snow the other day, not a lot, but enough to cover the grassy surfaces, enough for Mother Nature to say that winter wasn't over yet.  *sighh*  I'm more than ready for the daffodils, tulips, and iris to start showing up and the temperatures to warm up!

Well, I know this isn't much, but I have to work in an hour; don't want to be late!  I will write in here again probably next week sometime.  Until then, this is Louisiana signing off!  Take care, and may God bless y'all mightily!
