Sunny writes an update about her little sister, Ramey, who had a stroke several days ago. Right now, things still look pretty bad, and she's understandably worried.

Sunny here.  I am writing to let you know how my little sister, Ramey Melissa, is doing since she got sick a few days ago.

As you know, Ramey is in the hospital.  She is in a bad way, so bad, in fact, she's in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).  Doctors don't know if she is ever going to wake up again, and if she does, if she will ever recover.

Ramey had a stroke.  Right now, according to the head doctor (Dr. JaggedEdge, or something like that; I really can't pronounce his name; it's about ten miles long!  LOL), she's still unconscious and paralyzed; she isn't really responding to the tests being done on her; it's like she's in some type of coma.

It's horrible seeing Ramey lying there, looking so pale, still, and small, in that big hospital bed, tubes hooked up to her everywhere, monitors and other machines beeping, clicking, or humming, recording her life on screens or graphs.

I am at the hospital now as I write this.  We just saw Ramey.  No change.  Hopefully by the time we see her in a few hours there'll be something different, but right now, things are the same:  they have been the same for the past few days, ever since she took sick.

I somehow feel responsible for her being like this:  before Rame got sick, we'd been arguing; she'd gotten into my clothes a few too many times, and I just sorta snapped.  I remember the last thing I said to her:  "I hope you die, so you don't keep doing this; you're the worst pain in the butt that's ever lived!"  An hour later, we heard that terrible thump; we then found her lying on the floor of her bedroom, not moving, her face pale, and her eyes closed.

Mom and dad keep saying it's not my fault; it's just something that happened; however, I can't convince myself of that.  I keep thinking it's me who caused her to get sick, and if she were to die, I don't think I could ever forgive myself!

Well, I am going to try to get something to eat, anything to try to stop this nausea that's threatening to rise from my stomach to my throat, so I will go for now.  I will write in here with another sisterly update; just continue to keep us (and especially Ramey) in your prayers!  We could really use a miracle about now!

~Summer, Ramey's big sister.  :( >tears!<

It is so hard to see a child suffer, lets hope that you have some good news soon...very intense writing, Karen...good job

Telling a sibling one want them to die is a phrase that every sibling has uttered, it means nothing, just words that haven't any wish to be so.
At the time we, the ones that have or had siblings, we felt bad to have said that, and will haunt us all our lives if that really happened.

This is such a touching story.I am hoping Sunny is able to come to peace with it not being her fault.I can't wait to read more of the story. Thank you Karen

OHHHHHH Karen,
I feel for this child and hope she recovers. I also feel for the child who is having to live with the words she said. We just never know from minute to minute in this life.
I know from time to time we have all said things out of anger that later we wish we could suck back in. The only difference is while nothing happened to the ones we spoke to in anger this girl has to live every minute of every day with those last words spoken to her sister.
What a horrible burden for her to have to tote. As always you have brought my tissue out. LOL
Have a wonderful night.
Hugs

The ramifications of words spoken in anger can be deadly ... I, too, hope Ramey pulls through with no complications, and that Summer learns a lesson through all this. Sadness, well penned, Karen, excellent.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
