A story about three cats who live near our Florida home..
Three gray tiger kitties live in
the woods by our house. Each has an "M" on their forehead,
so I named them , Marty, Mickey and Maurice.
Each day at 5pm, I go out side with
a bowl of cat food and call them.
They all come running and wait while I put the food into their bowls.
Marty is the smallest and I have been able to pet him a few times.
He's still a little timid and doesn't
completely trust me.
Mickie is middle sized. Its tail is always straight up in the air.
I'm not sure if it's a,He or She.
Maurice is the largest cat. He'll run up to me, but will not let me touch him.
Hopefully some day, I'll gain their confidence and become their friend.
Until then , I'll just keep feeding them and enjoying the company they offer from a distance...
I have two cats. One came to our door, a baby kitten, that seemed to be lost. We do have many cats in our back yard that will not come near us, but we do give water and food too. It's interesting how you came to put an M on each of your cats. They sound like triplets.
I enjoyed reading your story. I wish someone had told me a long time ago that all cats aren't tame. I baby kitten was lying on his back in my yard and I reached down to rub its stomach--it nearly took one of my fingers off. It was a lesson well learned.
You are already their friend, and they love you for it. And every cat I've ever taken in or be-friended, has that 'M' on its forehead. Legend has it that Mary bestowed that gift on our feline friends when one of them crept into her Son's cradle so long ago, and lovingly kept Him warm, on a cold winter's night.
