Dear Journal~
Anh Kim here. Sorry if I haven't written; college has been a booger bear! So much homework to do, and not enough time to do it in, it seems!
Which is why I relish the days we're off, whether it be a holiday or a weather day. On those days, I sleep in; don't get crankin' on the homework assignments until mid afternoon or evening; then I'm up past two the next morning.
Then Thu wonders why I don't get enough sleep. *D'oh!* LOL
Tonight, it's the usual: church. We've found a wonderful nondenominational church near our campus; we have been going to Living Hope Church, and it's wonderful! The preaching is dynamic, easy to understand, and very interesting.
The worship is out of this world; you know the Lord is in the house when you hear all the wonderful praise going on!
The church body is mostly made up of college kids from not only Oral Roberts University, but other campuses around the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area, but you also have families, oldsters attending. It's a fairly big church, but not as big as the church I go to when back home in Nashville, when I visit my family.
Anyway, I've been going there just about every Sunday. Tonight our "small groups" ministry start up; and tonight, we're starting the "New Testament Challenge", where we will all read anywhere from two to four chapters, starting in the book of Matthew, and going all the way to the 22nd chapter of the Book of Revelations.
We will journal on what we've read, and it's supposed to draw us closer to God than we've thought possible.
Our church has this ministry, and it's a good way to meet with other believers and discuss the Bible or other church happenings. Before we do that, though, we eat, fellowship, and even pray; then we get into the study of God's Word for our lives. It's really awesome; I love it, and so does Thu!
Speaking of Thu, she is still thinking of working with children with special needs as a teacher. She's doing great!! She's getting prettier and prettier each time I look at her!
Christmas was good. Got a lot of nice things: money (since spent! LOL), clothes, new books for my classes, cologne (Stetson and Peak), new shoes, socks, underwear, some DVD's, some music CD's, an MP3 player, and a gift certificate to Golden Corral, Appleby's, and Olive Garden. Also proposed to Thu, which was probably the best part of our Christmas! :)
It was nice to see the entire family together for once, although it made for some extremely cramped quarters. All of them looked great, but poor granddad looks so old! He is in his eighties; he looks more like ninety! If he lives past this year, I will be greatly surprised; he's not in the best of health.
The weather here in Tulsa has been strange, to put it mildly. One minute it's cold, icy, or snowy, the next, tornadoes or springlike temperatures. It's crazy!
We had some tornadoes around Valentine's week, was under tornado warnings/watches a good chunk of the day. It was scary! No tornadoes here, thank goodness, but you could see a tornado or two in the distance!
The sirens were singing their sirensong; boy, talk about your built in chill-factor! That sound is enough to give the woolies to even the most stout of people, or the most experinced of chasers or weather forecasters!
I hear those sirens wail, and I'm grabbing my wife-to-be, and headin' towards our safe room, or when on campus, we go to the middle of the building, away from any windows, backs to the wall, and praying that God spares us any damage from the storm!
He must be listening to our prayers because our campus (as well as our home) are both still standing! :)
Well, I am going to get something to eat before my friends arrive to pick us up, so I will write another day. Until later, this is Anh Kim signing off! Take care, and may God bless you!
