Summer here. Thought I'd write with a medical update regarding my little sister, Ramey Melissa, who is currently in the hospital, recovering from a massive stroke that she suffered nearly a week ago.
Right now, she is still in the Pediatric Intensive Care ward, in a coma, but there are signs that she may be starting to come out of it. Her vital signs have stabilized, she moves one side when spoken to or pinched, poked, prodded, and when they shine those lights in her eyes, she turns her head away.
Doctors are very encouraged at these new developments; however, they still remain guarded about how she will do once she wakes up from the coma. It's still a "touch-and-go" situation, but for the first time since this happened, there's finally some encouraging news about my little sister.
I saw her in the ICU earlier today, and she briefly opened her eyes when I spoke her name. I said I was sorry for fighting with her. Don't know if she really understood what I told her, but to see her open her eyes was exciting; I nearly cried with happiness!
Hopefully by the next time I see her (tomorrow or a few days down the road), some of the tubes will be removed, and she'll start looking more human again.
I know Ramey will probably be in the hospital a long time after this, but at least she's heading in the right direction. Hopefully therapy will get her back to where she was before she got sick. We can only pray and hope that this happens!
For the first time in days, I actually feel like eating something in the hospital cafeteria, or even go back to school. I haven't been back to school since this happened, and I miss my teachers and friends terribly!
I have been e-mailing them, keeping them informed about my sister; they have been praying, calling me nonstop. It's nice to have friends or support when you need it the most!
Well, I know this is short, but my tummy is really talkin' up a storm; before it turns tornadic, I'd best feed it! LOL I will then go back to the PICU and see my sister again for fifteen minutes and hopefully she'll continue to improve.
I'd love for her to open her eyes or try to yank out one of the tubes, as if to say, "Hey! What am I doing here? What's all this? I don't like it; take them out!!" LOL
Take care, and may God bless! Keep the prayers coming! I'll write in a few days!
~Love, your friend, Summer. :)
