William (aka "Gorilla") Graves continues his story. He has a condition known as giantism, which makes him tower easily over his classmates--or most people. He is fifteen years old.

Howdy!  Gorilla here.  Thought I'd continue with my story.

As you know, I have giantism (acromagely).  In simple terms, it means I'm (literally) head and shoulders above my peers.  At the age of fifteen, I'm nearly seven feet tall, and I weigh over 300 pounds.  I'm a very big dude!

Name's William, but most people call me "Gorilla", 'count of I'm so huge.  Don't really mind it; what I do mind is whacking my head or having to bend down upon entering a room!

I have to take meds to help my thyroid gland.  It's underactive, causes me to feel tired or weak a lot of the time.  I'm also hypoglycemic; if my blood sugar goes down past a certain level, I can get really shaky, and I can pass out if I don't eat something as soon as I possibly can.

It's the exact opposite of being a diabetic, although, due to my condition, I'm predisposed to develop it.  I pray and hope I don't!

Other than my height (or health) issues, I'm like most kids.  I love to watch sports (I don't play because I'm afraid I'll have a low or pass out if I sweat too much), and I love to draw, paint, play my guitar, make up songs, play games on the computer, and go to church with my family.

I'm a very reasonable, likeable guy; don't let my hulking size fool you for a minute!  I wouldn't hurt a flea!  :)

I'm really gentle.

To tell you about my family, I have my moms and pops, as well as my MeMaw Rose, who lives with us.  (She's pops' mom; she's like in her eighties.)  I have two sisters, Ashleigh (13) and Erinn (11), and a baby brother, Brandon, who is almost three.  Brandon has special needs:  he's autistic.  He doesn't really relate that well to people; he's happier relating to his dinosaurs or specks of lint on the wall!

He doesn't talk much, and forget about change in his routine:  he goes ballistic!!  It's awful!!

I have a cat; cat's name is "Elmo".  A nondescript, black-and-white cat with green eyes and a kinked tail (stupid brother slammed kitty's tail in the door!  You should have heard the noise the kitty made!  WOW!  I never knew something so tiny could make such a horrid yowl!).  Elmo is my best bud; he sleeps with me at night when I go to bed.

In a few weeks, our church will have its annual Easter pageant.  Don't know if I'm trying out this year; I recently had a bout of strep throat, and it really knocked me for a loop.  My voice is still pretty scratchy, even though I'm on antibiotics to kill the germs that may still be lurking in my body.  I am planning on skipping it if my voice doesn't improve any.

We shall see what we shall see, as the saying goes.

Well, I am going to continue working on my homework (history, science, health, and English; I really got drilled good with the work!  ARGGGH!), so I am going to run along now.  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Gorilla swingin' outta here!  So long, and God bless!

~William ("Gorilla").  :)

Before I start on my work, I am going to grab a banana.  All of a sudden, I'm a bit on the hungry side!
