Dear Journal~

Howdy, howdy, howdy!  It's me, Leslie Michaeyla Babineaux, aged nine!  Hope this finds y'all well!  I am doin' good, but this time change sure has my body all screwed up!  I hate daylight savings time; it may be good for farmers or golfers, but I find it to be a pain!  I wish we'd could go back to our regular time; I was perfectly happy with it!

Evonne and Rachel are fine; they could care less about this time change thing.  Mama and daddy aren't too crazy about it; they did miss church because of it:  they overslept.  Boy, you shoulda heard daddy cussing when he found out we'd missed church!  Wow!

I had to get myself and my sisters out of there before we had a chance to learn any new bad words!  LOL

It's very warm here.  Even though it's only March, it feels more like May.  Bright sunshiney skies, with temperatures in the upper seventies to eighty degree range.  No sweatshirts, heavy pants, or winter jackets for us!  No, siree!

Now, we may get some rain in a few days; until then, we can enjoy the springlike temperatures, and play until it's time for dinner.

Then we wash up, do our homework (if we have any), say our dinnertime prayers, and eat; then we go back out until it's gettin' too dark to see.  We finally go to bed after we say our bedtime prayers.

They had a Mardi Gras celebration up the road a fur piece; we didn't go because Rachel decided to have a round of the squirts.  I guess she got a hold of something bad; it really tied her stomach up in knots!  She's now over it, but I was worrying the rest of us would get it.  (Thank God we never did!)

Saw my cousin, Shelbi, at church last week:  she's doing good, still putzin' along in her wheelchair.  There's talk she may walk one day, but until then, she uses her chair.  I love her; she's so happy all of the time!  I've never known her to be sad!

It's gotten me to thinkin':  if she can be happy, even with not being able to walk, then why can't I do the same, I, who has two good workin' legs??  I am indeed blessed!  :)  And so is my family!

Because we missed church, all of us overslept.  I didn't get out of bed until 11.  I just had lunch at two o'clock, a while back; we probably won't have dinner until eight, then we have to go to bed, for school tomorrow.

Short day!  Stupid time change!!  Grr!!!!

We may have some storms here by Wednesday; we may even have some bad weather.  I hope not; I don't like the crashin' thunder or the blindin' lightning flashes!  It scares me!  What's worse is when we get hail or even tornadoes in there; I hear the sirens or the storm outside, and I can't help but cry!!

Until then, though, it's nice out.  (I'm sittin' outside, on the back porch swing, as I write this.  I was playin' ball with my sisters, but they wore me out.  Gettin' old; I may be nine, but I feel more like fifty-nine!  LOL)

Mama can't say I haven't been getting any exercise because I have!!  (Like I need to exercise:  I'm rail-thin skinny as it is!  I'm a regular beanpole:  never could get any meat on my bones!)

Well, I am going to go:  our neighbor's Pomeranian just came into our yard, and I have to take her back; Ms. Fussbudget doesn't like it when her Sweetie wanders out of her yard!  She's afraid someone will steal her 'cause she's so cute, which she is!!  Take care, and may God bless y'all really good!

~Love, your friend, Leslie Michaeyla Babineaux.  :)

Here's a picture I took of Sweetie last week.  Isn't she the cutest little thing??

We said to the children that's very bad to cuss, yet, when we do and they giggle...well, sometimes a flash of happiness is good for us if we are immersed in daily drama.

It always takes a couple of days to adjust to the time change, but we will...another good peak at Leslie's daily life.

Missed the pic, but caught the image of childhood, squirts and all.
Very good, Karen.

Can almost see this one giggling with the hand over her mouth at her fathers cussing.

A good story by a nine year old. I remembered to set my clocks up last night, too. I stayed up an hour laster last night to try and get in the rhythm of the time change. Leslie's weather report sounds like ours today. It was cool this morning, but now it is so hot I think I migh have to turn the air on. (That little dog in the picture is beatiful.)
