     Roller coaster

Yesterday I had an interesting day.

It started with my dog jumping on my groin.

He does not do it usually. Bit when my son threw the ball and it landed between my legs, the dog just ran for it. Lucky me that he caught the right ball in his teeth and not something else.

So I limped to the bathroom to find that all hot water is in the drain as the result of the short "just wash myself a bit" of my daughter, preceded by even "shorter" son's shower.

Then I had a phone. A new job would be mine. Just meet the person and make her like you. Smile returned to my lips. Unbelieving, I checked it with my fingers. Yep. It's there. A smile.

So breakfast - finding that the last of milk was given to the dog didn't help to my coffee, and neither to my mood.

And what do you feel when you find that all your shirts are in the washing bin? And your meeting is in 35 minutes?

You take that one shirt that you gave up wearing it after realizing that coming to the right weight for its width will take you at least a couple of years longer than you thought.

I preferred not to see in the mirror what I looked as.

I just put my footwear (my good shoes were chewed by the dog yesterday, and not so good pair, the week before. Therefore, it was footwear's turn to return to the streets. Footwear, as you could not use any other word for such amorphous thing.)

I didn't remember where I put car's keys, but the moment I began to look for them, my son said: "Pa, you've left your key in my room." So, I took them and sunglasses and went to the meeting.

It would help if others would park their cars a bit farther from mine. Doing it from either side of the car, and me being a bit thicker than a sheet of paper, the only solution was in finding drivers and asking them to move their cars.

Of course, the meeting place was empty.

I went to the office and phoned to the client.

It took me some time to explain what happened and why I couldn't phone her about my being late. She just could not believe that my dog really ate the paper with the phone number.

But at last, she agreed to give me another chance.

From then on, the day went better than usual. I signed contracts with two more clients and got check for long forgotten work.

Towards the end of the day, I went to the renewed meeting from the morning.

Spilled coffee on her dress was the last straw for her and she went off angry.

I cursed myself for my too much use of hands while showing her our possibilities. (You know, for "this much" I could spread my hands a bit. It isn't necessary to overturn the sugar tray and while trying to catch it, overturning coffee pot.)

I returned to the office and sat near the computer.

It was in the news - her company would most probably lose on two projects and there was a possibility that the company would have cash problems.

I was "this much" happy that the meeting went sour. Even broken clock that did not survive my hands spread didn't spoil my joy.

In the bed this night, I lay with my eyes looking at the ceiling but seeing the day's adventures.

I am proud of myself surviving this day, having the upper hand at the end.

Sometimes it is the only thing you can hope for, surviving just another day full of hiccups can be a full time job.
A good story about "the dog eat my homework!" kind of.
