Edwina (Eddie) Garcia is puzzled by new symptoms that have cropped up as a result of her multiple sclerosis.
I don't know what is going on with me, but I don't like it at all!
This is Edwina. Eddie. I'm the one who has multiple sclerosis (MS); I've been writing about what the disease has been doing to me, so you can get a picture of exactly what I am going through.
I've had days where all I need is my cane; on others, I use crutches, a walker, or if worse comes to worse, my scooter or my wheelchair. People see me using these appliances; they think I'm getting better when I get around with little trouble or else they think I'm doing worse when I have my scooter or chair.
I'm not getting either better or worse: it's just how this stupid disease manifests itself.
And now I'm facing troubling new symptoms. My legs have been swelling up and turning purple; don't know why because I have never had any trouble with my circulation. I've also been having spasms in my face; it looks like my face is dancing, and it's embarrassing.
These symptoms have been going on for the last few days. I've already made an apopintment with my MS doctor, to see exactly what is going on. I don't know if it's because of my MS or if it has to do anything with the medications I'm currently on to curb some of the effects of my disease. It's very annoying, not to mention, scary!
I see my doctor at two this afternoon. I don't know what he will say; all I have to say is please keep me in prayer; I could really use it!
Well, I am going to try to take a (lukewarm) shower; hopefully that won't add to my symptoms! I'm also going to get ready and have my mom drive me to the doctor's. I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Edwina Garcia signing off! So long for now!
We have come a long way since we started to take seriously MS, but the people going 24/7 to find a cure or a drug to slow or stop the illness have the same problem as every time, they have 0,0001% of what Pentagon are expending at any time. Whats wrong with the picture here?
I agree with Michelle's comment. I also have once watched a documentary that people are getting healings to their legs by placing leaches there to suck the blood flow down to the legs area. It is a new form of treatment for MS victims.
Karen this is a great story, purple legs means she is not getting enough circulation to her legs, and that is also making her legs swell, I am familiar with these symptoms, because the form of MD I have has some similar conditions. Face spasms can also be common im MS, the nerves in your face, and the muscles in your jaw can also be affected, but you captured the reality of MS for awhile, for many years that is what the doctors said I had, so I am quite familiar with the symptoms, I love this write
In Christs Love

The changing aspects of any crippling disease and the affects as well of the medications we take for them can be devastating, especially when we are young and should not have to deal with them.
MS is a puzzler, because it manifests itself in symptoms that mimic other diseases; it flares and ebbs; one day is a good one, the next, horrible. Diagnosis and treatment is tricky. An excellent capture of what one goes through with MS, the title is engaging, as are these words. Well done, Karen.
