Judy Reichart here.
Sorry if I haven't written in several months; been busy at best, plus worrying about Ethan Raymond, our son who has significant special needs, whether he'd make it or not during his last hospital stay.
Hope you understand.
Well, I am here to tell you that Ethan is still with us, miracle of miracles! He gave us a scare when his temperature soared up to 106 after he caught the flu from his brother Erich; we were so s ure we were going to lose him. He was in the hospital for almost a month, trying to fight this thing; it was terrifying!
Ethan's since recovered from his bout of the flu; however, we have been watching over him like a mamma hen does her wayward chicks; we've been praying desperately to God, asking Him to keep him healthy. I think God's been listening because Ethan got better, and he's still here! :)
Missi Nichole, our daughter, has been telling us about this lady she saw on the Internet. When I saw her, I didn't think too much of her: she was obviously heading towards middle age (if she wasn't already there), and she wasn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination; however, when this lady opened her mouth to sing (she was auditioning for a talent show in England), it left me speechless.
It just goes to show you, you never can tell what someone might do, and do it well, which this woman obviously has. She has been plastered all over our television screens, in our newspapers, and especially on the Internet. On YouTube, her video has garnered over 7 million hits!!
People are already saying she is going to win "Britain's Got Talent". I can see why. She has the voice of an angel!
This is supposed to be about our family, not Susan Boyle (the woman's name). Sorry about that, but Missi was so excited when she saw the video!
Anyway, in any event, Erich is over the flu as well (Missi never did get it), and he's busy playing baseball at school. He's the starting pitcher for several upcoming games; hopefully he will do well. He's a natural athlete. Missi is into athletics as well; she loves to do gymnastics. Meanwhile, our little guy (Ethan) is their biggest fan: at their games or competitions, he's always there, on the sidelines, sitting in his wheelchair, the biggest grin on his face, and his eyes sparking with excitement!
The weather has warmed up considerably: I definitely think spring has "sprung"! I am so glad; I was more than tired of the cold and snow!
We had a quiet Easter: did nothing but go to church, then had the kids find their Easter eggs. They liked the goodies we'd gotten them; however, I reminded them that Easter was all about Jesus' Resurrection from the cross and not so much about the candy, Easter bunny, or baskets full of goodies. I hope they got the message.
After the Easter egg hunt, we tried to go out to eat; however, the restaurants were all crowded, so we went back home and made the kids sandwiches and gave them carrot, celery, and broccoli sticks. (Ethan got his meal via his belly tube. He can't chew or swallow, so he gets fed in a special way; it takes about an hour. We do this five times a day.)
The kids were disappointed; but we told them that they could play with their new toys and be quiet while we put their brother to bed so he could nap; he was pretty exhausted by the time we returned home. In fact, he slept right thorugh his feeding! LOL
Yesterday, we took Ethan to his doctor: he isn't doing any better, but he isn't doing any worse either. He's just doing. Don't know if that's good news or not, but as long as he's not getting any worse, I'm happy with that!
Well, I am going to go: Missi and Ethan sound like they are going to kill one another; guess they had a bad day at school. I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Judy Reichart signing off! Take care and may God bless you always!
~Love, your freind Judy Riechart.
