Dear Journal~
Howdy! Louisiana Sandusky here. Hope this finds y'all well; I have been busy working! At work now; just got on break not even ten minutes ago. I am in the cafeteria as I write this. I am on break for an hour.
I am working in the emergency room. It's been fairly steady: several cases of the flu (no, not the swine flu), accident victims, asthmatic attacks, heart attacks, strokes, seizures, chronic conditions or complications rising from them, etc. Seems we get one case taken care of, and another, perhaps even two, three, or even more, come following right behind. *sighhh*
Nothing like Friday or Saturday nights, when all hell normally breaks loose, but busy enough to still keep us all on our toes!
When I have been home, I have been tending to my family as well as my flowers and garden outside. I am always working, even when not at work; I even work weekends and holidays! No days off for me--EVER.
We have a new family member: our kids found a black baby bunny in the yard; they want to keep it for a pet. When I saw this little round ball of soft fluff, I couldn't say no. So now we have a rabbit, a baby dwarf bunny. The kids have named it "Sooty". Oh, it is sooo cute, but I am not ready to be constantly picking up little packages our little furry friend has been leaving behind!
I just hope the cats or the dogs don't decide to hunt "Sooty" and eat it for dinner! That would be tragic; the kids have really become attached to this little animal! I can see why: he is just so darned CUTE!!
As I am a nurse, I have been reading up on the swine flu outbreak in Mexico. Now over 150 people have died; it's reached epidemic proportions there. Meanwhile, here in the United States. Only forty people have had it here, but it's been the mild strain; all of the people have, thankfully, recovered!
I have been watching my family closely for symptoms of the flu, plus diarrhea and vomiting; this is the hallmarks that tells me it is swine flu. Regular flu doesn't cause vomiting or diarrhea. So far, nothing has emerged; I pray this continues! I have been very hard on them, to make sure they wash their hands as much as possible, particularly before meals, after going to the restroom, or after sneezing/coughing! I don't want my family to get the swine flu!
Looks like we won't be going to Mexico anytime soon. Bill and I went on a cruise there last year, but this was before all of this flu mess surfaced. Guess we'll just stay here in the good old U.S. of A. this year!
