Tottie Brighton writes in her journal while fighting off the effects of the flu.

Sydney, Australia, 5 May, 2009~

Dear Journal~

G'day!  T'is your mate, Tottie Ruth, writing; hope this finds y'all in fine fettle.  Me, I'm afraid I'm not well:  have the nastiest case of the flu; I really feel horrible!

Started yesterday afternoon, with chills, aches, nausea, diarrhea; was worried I had swine flu, because regular flu doesn't cause diarrhea or nausea.  Bobbo took me to the doctor's; he confirmed it.  Swine flu.

Great!  I don't understand how I can have swine flu:  I haven't been around any pigs!  It can't be from the pork chops I had the other day (or can it?!); it's awful!  I really feel horrid!

Doctor has given me some meds to help get the flu; he said I should be back to normal within a week or so.  God, I hope so; there's nothing worse than throwing up or spendin' time on the porcelain palace!  What a revolting situation I'm in!  Goodness!

Until then, I'm in bed; I'm to stay put, while Bobbo takes care of me.  His  mum and dad have been here, too.  And the weather matches how I feel:  rotten!  Rainy, really ugly out!  Even threats for severe storms; I don't do storms very well:  I hate thunder (it hurts me ears) and lightning (too blinding on the eyes)!  Also don't like heavy rain or hail; hard to sleep with hail tattooing a terrible beat on our tin roof!  Really loud, if you know what I mean!

Also, weather like this brings the spiders inside; I pray I don't find another funnelweb inside or else I'm moving to Alaska or the Arctic, where there are no spiders to be had; too cold for them, for one thing!

Already have had several nasty encounters with funnels; spent time last year in hospital due to a funnel bite; 'twas very sick!  I only wanted to die!  I felt horrible!!

Ever since, I get creeped out whenever I think of those nasty critters!  Gad!!

Well, I am tired from writing; am going to go back to sleep.  Just keep me in your prayers; pray I get over this damned swine flu!  Damned pigs; I don't see how I got it when there's no pigs around!!  Crazy, that!

~Tottie.  :(

Who would have thought that after Babe the film we will be chasing that innocent piglet out of our lives?
