     Millie Parkington continues her story.

Howdy!  Millie Ruth Parkington here.  I last wrote in here a few months back; thought I'd let y'all know how I'm faring.

I am still living with my daughter Rina and her family.  I thank God for them; if it were not for their generosity, I'd be diggin' for food out of trash cans out in the street; that ain't no place for an elderly woman like me to be!

Heck, it ain't for anyone to be out there!!  The streets can be mighty mean, cruel, and unforgiving to a person!

If it weren't for that Angel Food ministry every month, I don't know what I'd do!  Besides getting good, quality food every month (includin' staples), we get prayer, love, and support; more people could use that in their lives!

I've been tryin' to get Rina and her family to come to church with me; no go.  The grandkids don't want to have anythin' to do with church, and Rina is too busy with working and lookin' out after the kids (and me).  So I go by myself; Rina takes me, drops me off, then picks me back up when church has ended.

I go every week.  I guess that's why I look forward to Sundays every week; I love gettin' into the Word of God and hearin' the preachin'/singin'!  I get so much out of church!

I got my stimulus check earlier this month (two weeks ago); already spent all but $50 of it.  Got necessities and extra food for the family; yeah, that's what I spent it on.  I just wish we could get another one; nope, President Obama said it was a one-time deal.

I don't see how that's gonna help people because once the money is spent, there are still gonna be people hurtin', people fixin' to lose their homes, their possessions, their jobs!  It's crazy how bad this economy has gotten, and I somehow doubt that the new President can fix it!

I was hopeful when he first took office back in January, but now I'm beginnin' to have my doubts about him.  Somehow he scares me; I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just don't trust the man.

I'd love to be able to take Rina, the kids, and myself out to eat, but then Rina would have to drive me.  Don't have a car; too old to be drivin'; my eyes just don't work that good any more, plus gettin' around is getting harder and harder as I get older.  (In my seventies now; ain't no young chick!)

Therefore, I walk most places if it ain't too powerful far, and if I need to go further, I have my chariot to take me (Rina).  Rina has a car, an orange HHR.  I personally don't know why she got somethin' so bright, but she loves that car!  So I put up with it!

I'd rather she have something more practical, like a Honda Civic or maybe perhaps a Kia Spectra!  :)  Or maybe she needs one of those crazy lookin' Smart Cars they've been talkin' 'bout!  :)

(Rina got the HHR from back pay her ex owed her for back child support.  She got the money, so she got herself a new car.)

At least she didn't get something like a Hummer; those things are uuuuuuuuuuugly!!  I can't stand them!!  Every time I see a Hummer, I want to kick its front end in!!

And they're such a waste on gas!  I think whoever invented a car like the Hummer must have had salt for brains!!

If Rina would have gotten a Hummer, I probably would have disowned her!

Well, it's way too early for little old ladies like myself to be out of bed (not even five thirty yet), so I'm going back to sleep.  So goodnight; I'll write in here again!  Take care and God bless; talk to you again soon!

~Love, your friend, Millie Ruth Parkington.  :)

The streets can be mighty mean, cruel, and unforgiving to a person - they surely can, and for far too many animals, too - glad to hear you're not out there.

Everybody seems to have forgotten the plight of the elderly, ever Saint Obama, more busy bailing out the jerks that put us in the hole, than helping the people thrown in the hole.
I think that in Washington is..."business as usual"
And pass the collect bowl, there's a Congressman that didn't get the monthly bribe.

Good write and she is so lucky to have Rina and her grandkids to turn to, she should learn though that not all people need church or preaching to be spiritual. As for the car...lol could be worst Rina could love monster trucks....lol
