Our words are vehicles of our imagination. The old clique "A picture is worth a thousand words" holds true for words too. We can rewrite it as "A word is worth a thousand pictures."
How many pictures come to mind when you write the word VEHICLE? It's a simple word, but the images are numerous. When I think VEHICLE, I think Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, VW, Mercedes, Audi, Saturn, Toyota, and Nissan just to mention a few. One word creates many images.
If the writer means VW, then the words creating the image should be simple i.e. small, rounded curves and affordable. On the other hand, if the writer means Mercedes, then the words should be sophisticated i.e. stylish, elegant and expensive. A VW is not expensive and a Mercedes is not affordable.
Words create powerful images. And when the right words blend together perfectly, incredible stories are birthed. Stories that are exact in their usage of words.
So today, expand your word imagination. Pick a word and see how many different images come to mind. It’s an interesting test of the power of the imagination.
