An update from M'Kaya Jefferson and her family and how they are faring since her last journal entry of November of last year.

Saturday, June 6, 2009, New York City, N.Y., 8:44 p.m., D.S.T.~

Dear Journal~

Hey, you guys!  How are y'all doing?  We are doing great!

It seems hard to believe that Stefan, our son, is now due to start first grade in the fall!  He has grown so much, and he is so smart!  We are extremely proud of him!

This is M'Kaya Jefferson writing.  Hope this finds you well!  Frank continues to work long hours at the hospital; meanwhile, I stay home and draw SSDI, as well as take care of our son when he's not in school.  If I'm having trouble, he helps me out; he's a very good, resourceful, compassionate little boy!

Last week at church, little Stefan gave his heart to the Lord.  When they had the altar call, Stefan stood up and told us he needed to have Jesus in his life; he then went up front, where he said the Sinner's Prayer, along with about six other people.  He was the youngest.  We cried!  Oh, how we cried!  Now we are a complete Christian family!

Ever since Stefan found Christ, he's been praying; it's so cute to watch him, listen to him pray.  He's also been reading the childen's Bible we got him last week.  He goes to Sunday school every week; he enjoys learning about Jesus.

I did have some problems with my insurance company.  They wanted to drop me because "of my preexisting conditions"; they were going to start charging me for my crutches, scooter, and meds; I put my foot down (as did Frank), and we told them they had another thing coming.  It was scary for a while, but eventually we prevailed in the end; it was a miracle from God!

I have my good days and bad when it comes to my MS, fibro, and stump.  Some days I am in so much pain it is all I can do to get out of bed; sometimes I feel so bad I would welcome death!  Other days I am functioning fairly well, and it isn't hard for me to get around.

Frank has been an angel:  he is always there when I need him; if not, then friends stop by to assist me.  We also have a service dog named Marley; looks just like the Marley of the book and movie, "Marley And Me" by John Grogan.  Doesn't act like him though:  he's a very good dog, well behaved.  We are indeed blessed for not having THE Marley in our lives!  LOLOLOL

Marley is my helper:  he helps me get stuff that I can't reach or retrieve dropped items; if I'm having problems he alerts people, and they can get me the needed help, be it assistance, ambulance, or whatever.

If I fall, he stays right beside me until Frank or one of my neighbors/friends come; he won't leave me for a second.

The weather here in New York is warmish; not too hot, not too cold; it's perfect.  Now we may get some rain by tomorrow evening; it's also scheduled to rain for the next few days.  I can tell: my fibro is singing, making its presence known.  *OW*  LOL

Tomorrow, we are going to see the New York Yankees (go, Yanks!!) play at Yankee Stadium; we always look forward to these baseball outings.  Frank is a real baseball fan, and tomorrow will be the first time our son will have gone to a pro baseball game.  Very exciting for all of us!  I love baseball too; always have, always will.

I will let you know how the game goes next time I write; hopefully the Yanks will beat the pants off the opposing team!  Would be nice!  :)

I am going to go now:  having an "issue" with my catheter bag.  Yuck!  What a mess!  I will write in here again another day; until then, this is M'Kaya Jefferson sayin' "I'm outta here!"  So long!  God bless!

~Love, your friend in New York City, M'Kaya.  :)
