My good friend, M'buti Moore-Sormiento, and her husband, Roberto, and their small son, Jubaki, are on their way to Africa.
Seems that a family emergency of some sort occurred the other day; her brother, Naiser, who lives in Nairobi, called, and he sounded quite upset.
It seems that her other brother, Keserian, who lives in Thika, was attacked by a lion while tending to his cattle; and the lion ended up attacking Keserian while he was trying to protect his remaining herd of cattle. (The lion got one of the cows, and Keserian was desperately trying to protect the remaining cows.) As a result of this, Keserian got mauled pretty badly on his legs, hip, and his buttocks. They also don't know if Keserian is going to be able to walk again because, according to the doctors attending to him, there was an awful lot of damage to the bones, muscles, and tissues. According to Naiser, Keserian is in pretty bad shape; they really don't know if he is going to make it. He lost a lot of blood, and his heart stopped once when they'd gotten him to the hospital in Nairobi. He is in a pretty critical state.
Of course, M'buti and Roberto both cried at the news; and they had to make emergency arrangements, plus get shots; and now, they are somewhere in the sky, on a plane, heading towards Kenya, where M'buti is originally from.
I hope they will be okay.
