Julie continues to keep a bedside vigil as her mother continues to languish in a coma after being hit by a supposedly drunk driver while getting the mail for an elderly neighbor; she is becoming more frustrated by the day as she searches for answers as to why this happened to her.
I just don't see any hope in my situation. Every day that goes by, it's looking less and less likely that my mom will ever emerge from her current state, and if she does, there's the distinct possibility of her being "damaged" somehow.
I don't know how mom's night went here at the hospital; I'll find out soon enough when the nurses (or doctors) check in on her later on this morning. Until then, I wait, hope, and wonder. I've since given up on praying; I don't see any effort in it. I'm becoming more and more discouraged with each passing hour.
This is Julie by the way. Julie Jesika Torrez. I have been here at the hospital now going on two weeks; it will be two weeks come Wednesday since my mom was severely injured by that stupid drunk as she was getting the mail. She was only trying to help out a disabled elderly lady by getting her mail for her; she didn't deserve to be mown over by a stupid drunk!!
If mami didn't get the mail, she would have still been laughing, talking, taking care of us! She's always had a good heart about her; she's never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need, even if it was a complete stranger! Now this is the thanks she gets? Being run over? Lying in a coma, with no indication that she will never wake up again?? It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever!!
Angry? Do I sound angry? Yes, I am angry. Very much so! How can a loving God in Heaven allow such terrible things to happen?? I am finding myself becoming more distant from Him at each new report from the doctor! If He were really God, He'd heal my mami, make her wake up!! I just don't see that happening anytime soon!
I haven't seen my family in nearly two weeks; they must think I'm not the caring, loving daughter! Well, I could go back home to them; the fact is, I can't leave my mom's side, in case something were to happen to her! What if she died and I wasn't there? I'd never forgive myelf! EVER!!
Well, I am going to grab a granola bar (and perhaps a bottle of Coke or bottled water), try to get something in my system, while I'm whiling away the hours here at the hospital. Got very hungry all of a sudden. I will write in here again in a few days, sooner, if there's been any change. Just keep me in your thoughts, and say a prayer for my mami! I'd appreciate it! There are so many things we don't understand about God's will. The world beyond this will be full of surprises, because the things most valued there, are considered of little intrinisc value by people in this plane of existence.
I will tell you one thing, though; the strength and caring of every individual in the family took a quantum leap.
I remember finding a deserted corridor at Children's Hospital in Seattle (one they were using for storage) and spiriting Adrianne away from her room to watch the fireworks out a corner window there. It was a private showing, so to speak, and memorable.

That is sure understandable that she is mad and and mad at God.But the hopeful thing is she is asking for prayers, so deep within herself she must want to turn to God, shed just isn't able to right now. Great write Karen.
