Weds., July 1, 2009, Nashville, TN., 7:39 a.m., D.S.T. (where does the time go??)~

Dear Journal~

Louisiana here.  Just woke up, thanks, in part, to the kids left here at home.  The babies, Isaiah and Ian, woke up with sopping diapers and voracious appetites; then Johnathon's vent sounded.  No real problem, but it scared the liver out of me!  Now excuse me while I try to locate my missing liver...  LOL

Looks like I won't be going back to sleep, so I might as well write in my journal before there are any more interruptions!  *Sighhh*

The disaster drill went without a hitch; it was a most smooth, co-ordinated effort.  I think we did pretty well, all things considering!  I'm just glad that this is behind us; some of the people got mighty unnerved when they'd heard that a terrorist had hit Nashville; they were relieved later when they found out it was only a mock drill!

Then we really had to treat some people (mostly for nerves and asthma attacks, plus one poor old buzzard had a heart attack, right there in the ER; thank God we were able to revive him)!

Well, I'm off from today until Sunday.  Sunday I work, which means no church in the morning.  Oh, well.  At least I got most of the holiday weekend off, plus July 4th itself, which means I'll be at the city's annual July 4th celebration, which kicks off tomorrow and runs through Sunday.  (I won't be there Sunday, but my family and myself will be there the other three days.)

Several of country music's finest will be there:  Kellie Pickler.  Josh Turner.  Toby Keith.  And also Loretta Lynn.  (She's the biggie; she'll be the one performing before the fireworks, along with the Nashville Symphony.)  You can bank on an overflowing crowd; when they hear who is going to be providing the top name entertainment, they'll be coming in droves! 

Then there's the local entertainment:  Paul Gregoire and "Rue Du Bayou"(Cajun/zydeco).  Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux and "Cajun Spice"(traditional Cajun/country).  "Hat Trick" (rock-n-roll).  Rachael Marie and "Nashville Country" (traditional country).  "The Zoo Bunch" (reggae).  B.Z. and T-Man (rap).  Eian O'Flaherty (Celtic/folk).  Little Colton Blaze Ramey and "The Ramey Bunch" (bluegrass).  Echo Jett and "Ecstasy" (50's/60's/70's rock-n-roll).  "Diamond Lou" and "Enchanted Evening" (big band).  "Eidelweiss" (German-style polka music).  And, of course, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, who will play a huge role in the patriotic program.   All kinds of music, for all tastes, for all ages!

It sounds like it is going to be a blast (no pun intended)!  LOL

The weather promises to be hotter than a Fourth of July firecracker, with little chances of rain.  So we don't have to worry about ducking for cover!  It's going to be perfect!!

Bill has to work tomorrow until four; then he'll be home before we head over to the festival grounds (downtown).  There'll be fireworks tomorrow night, again on Friday, and then the big, forty-five minute show on Saturday night.  It will be jammed with people, so we will have to fight for a parking space (hopefully there will be some handicapped parking spots available by the time we get there or else we're out of luck!).

We are looking forward to it!  We always enjoy the city's Fourth of July activities!  So much to see, so much to do, so much to hear, so much to taste!

Well, Johnny's vent alarm is going off again; I swear that thing is set on supersensitive!  I don't hear any gasping or labored breathing from Johnny, so it must be the vent.  ARRGGH!!  I am going to have to call the company to tell them about it!  Maybe they can come and fix whatever is wrong!  It's past annoying!  I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Louie signing off!  Have a very safe and happy July Fourth, and may God bless you always!
