Amy here.  Amy Madison of Nashville, Tennessee.  Thought I'd let you know that the adoption of my foster child, Trinh, is about to become a reality!

As you can imagine, I am beyond excited!!

I first heard about Trinh when the foster care specialist called me; when I first saw his picture, I could not say no.  He was absolutely beautiful!

Trinh also happened to have some serious, deep-seated emotional issues stemmed from abuse from the family who'd adopted him previously.  When found over a year ago by police, the boy was barely alive, unconscious; he was fighting for his life.

It was only by a miracle that he managed to survive.

Trinh has now been with me for the past several months; while he still faces months of ongoing therapy, he is starting to make progress.  He is slowly opening up.

Trinh is now nine, a precious little fellow with long, shaggy black hair, sparkling, dark almond eyes, and a rather pugnacious personality, especially if disciplined:  he doesn't like to be told the word "no".

Trinh finally has a chance to overcome the horrific abuse of the past; I, as his mother-to-be, will see to this.  He is only a child; he deserves a much better life than what he's already experienced.  As the advertisement on television says, "it shouldn't hurt to be a child."

When he is behaving himself, Trinh can be a joy to be around.  He loves to play video (or electronic handheld) games, play on the computer, draw, and is learning to read/write.  He is a lot smarter than most people give him credit for.

Trinh's biggest issues at the current time are emotional:  "night terrors", where he will scream bloody murder in the middle of the night, are a huge problem.  He also has a problem with defiance, as I alluded to earlier, when I mentioned that he doesn't like to be told no.  He will go ahead and do whatever he wants anyway.  *Sighhh*  He can really test my patience at times!

I wouldn't trade it, though, for all the tea or gold in China:  he is my son, my miracle child!  I just love Trinh so much!!
