Imps and Pixies.
Not many people have ever seen an Imp, not many have seen a Pixie most of us have at one time or another been visited by these rascally beings. Mischief is their second name; they love to tease small children and elderly and ill people. Sometimes they visit ordinary people you will not see them but they will affect your lives considerably. Think of the cups and saucers that have fallen to the floor. The water that has flooded your room when you use the washing machine; these are not accidents. These happenings are the results of a mischievous Imp or Pixie that has either taken a fancy to you or to your children.
Imps are worse than Pixies; they are much smaller and can easily hide while pushing the plate or cup and saucer out of your hands. You switch on a light the light does not work because the bulb is broken. Bulbs do not break it is either an Imp or a Pixie that has visited your home, he or she has broken the wire in the bulb and laughs while you search for a new bulb to replace the one they have broken. How often have you complained that bulbs are not what they used to be. You blame the manufacturers; save your breath you are making an Imp or a Pixie very happy when you let off steam because of a broken bulb.
Another thing that Imps and Pixies love to do is just when you are watching your favourite program on the television, they fiddle with the electric fuses. A fuse blows and you have to find a torch or candle to replace the fuse. They are rolling on the floor laughing and making fun of you. A knock on your front door or the front door bell rings you go to answer, no one is there or at least you think that no one is there. A Pixie or an Imp is having fun at your expense.
Anything odd that happens to you either indoors or out in the street is the work of one of these nuisances. Your hat goes rolling down the street is it really the wind that has blown your hat off of your head? Oh! No it one of these terrible Imps or a Pixie that just happens to be passing and wants to have a good laugh. They love to see people trip and fall. Have you tripped or fallen on a perfectly flat strip of pavement? Believe me it was not an accident. You think it was an accident because you cannot see these rascals they are a real menace.
How often have you run to catch a bus or a train; as you arrive at the bus stop or the railway station you see the bus or the train moving on its way, another Imp and or Pixie has had another triumphal experience at your expense. There is no such thing as oversleeping each one of us humans has a built in clock that tells us it is time to do this or that. Imps and Pixies find it easy to upset the time clock in our bodies. They are to blame when you miss your bus or train.
Pixies and Imps are everywhere I have seen them in Hospitals; ill people they love to visit there are so many things to do when a patient is ill. They can make one’s hands shake so that one spills one’s drink on to a freshly made bed. They are not trying to have a laugh at the patients it is this time the nurses they are having a go at. A freshly made bed excites both the Imps and the Pixies and both rush to make something happen. The patient reaches for a glass of freshly pressed orange juice; as she or he reach for the glass the Imp or Pixie pushes the vase full of flowers over and not only does the orange juice but the water from the vase of flowers spill everywhere. The imps and Pixies roll up laughing especially when the patient rings a bell for help.
I know many of you do not believe in Imps or Pixies but they are really here and it is their doing when most things go wrong. They are clever, some days they will do nothing then just when you are feeling relaxed they start. You own a cat or a dog; cats do not push things from shelves. Dogs do not get up on the table to steal meat it is the Pixie or Imp that has pushed the meat on to the floor. There are so many examples that I could give you, but would you believe me and be on your guard against these mischievous creatures. Would you?
