July 22, 2009~

Julie Jasmine Torres here.  I am writing in here because for once, I have some *GOOD NEWS*!!!!

My mom is finally coming out of the coma she's been in for the past few weeks!  She's been exhibiting signs:  moving her limbs when doctors test her pain response, opening her eyes, moving her head, whatnot.  It's been so exciting for the past few days!!

Doctors are remaining cautiously optimistic, however.  They are still saying my mom faces a very long road of recovery/rehab ahead of her; there's no guarantees she will ever return to her former self, the smiling, loving, laughing woman I knew before this happened to her.

She might always remain handicapped.

That part isn't too good, but the fact is, mami is waking up.  That part I can handle; it's better than seeing her lying there like a rock, not moving anything, even a finger, as machines and monitors keep her alive!  It's been nothing short of a miracle; God heard my prayers, even when I was so angry, ready to give up on Him!!

I can finally go home in a day or two; when I do, I plan on doing nothing but sleep, 'cause you don't get it at a hospital!  Whoever said you get rest in a hospital setting lied!!

I will be soooo happy to see my brother again, even though he drives me crazy!!  I love Tray, don't get me wrong; however, due to his heart condition and the fact that he is medically fragile, he is still a good little kid!  I just wish something could be done to fix his heart, so he can run around and play like any other little boy!  I hate worrying about him like this!

It's bad enough with mami being in the hospital:  I don't know what I would do if Tray was in at the same time!  I don't think I could have handled that!  One sick family member is bad enough; I certainly don't need two in the hospital at the same time!!

Meanwhile, the kid who hit my mom remains free on bail.  Who's to say he won't change another family's life with his being so stupidly irresponsible??  I am going to do all I can to ensure that this kid is found, caught, and punished with the severest form of the law; he can't get away with this!!

Well, mami is moving around again, have to try to calm, quiet her.  I will write in here again; hopefully daddy will come to relieve me and then I can go home; I reallllly need to get some serious shuteye!  Until next time, this is Julie Torres signing off; please continue to keep us in your prayers in the days, weeks, months ahead!  I would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks in advance!
