The women were so gross! Physically as well mentally.
The atmosphere was filled with high decibel music. The FM was blaring …………singh is king, while the TV was pouring out the crooning of Leila…somebody. In spite of the four ACs there was a stench of sweat. The clash of metal and the groans added a very special effect of human endeavour to the whole scene in the moderately lighted hall which appeared to be bright because three of the walls were mirrored and the fourth had big windows.
All the five treadmills facing the wall were occupied by seekers of fitness. Just behind the treadmills were four cycle ergo-meters. In the other part of the hall were a number of other exercisers.
Of the 5 people walking/ running on the moving-strap, 4 were women. All of them looked to be in their early 30s. The fifth was a male in his teens running on the mill nearest to the window. Three girls and four boys were working with weights in the opposite section of the hall. A male aged about 50 years and a girl just 10 or 11 years old were cycling on adjacent ergo-meters. The man was huffing and replied to the chattering girl occasionally. The girl appeared to be his daughter.
The man could see the undulating behinds of the women, as well as their bouncing bosoms in the mirror. He was constantly gazing at the sweating women on the treadmill. The crooning Leila on the TV screen was the most neglected form in the hall.
The women on the mill maintained a continuous chat amongst themselves. They talked of their husbands, kids, kitty parties, weight they had gained or shed, recipes, parties, ongoing sales, etc. The male teen running besides them turned his eyes occasionally to stare at the woman next to him …………..a petite young mom in shorts and a tee-shirt that was now clinging to her body revealing the shape of her breasts. Finally he stopped the mill, got down and walked away.
The conversation on the mills took an erratic turn………….
# 3 said to #4 The lad had a feast watching your tits.
#4 Yes, I know….
#2 interjected ……………………. It’s the old man behind us who is having the real feast!
#1 , #3 and #4 turned and twisted to get a look of the man in the mirror.
Suddenly, all of them looked very animated and spoke to each other. It was difficult to follow their conversation in all the cacophony.
After an interval of five minutes all of them got off their mills.
Two of them got on to the ergo-meters and the remaining two just loitered near them.
It was not possible to make out who said what but ………….peeping toms, not for exercise, ogling, oldies, other abusive terms could be overheard.
The old man continued with his cycling but the kid intervened……..Aunty, who you all talking about?
#3 The man next to you, my child.
The kid kept thinking for some time and said ………….. That’s impossible Aunty. He is my dad and he is extremely myopic ……….practically blind for distant objects without his glasses ………..and you can see I have his glasses for safe keeping (she showed them a pair of well used specs).
The kid continued - Actually, he has been recently diagnosed to have diabetes and the doctor has advised him to exercise regularly………………. He hates it; so - I insist on accompanying him here……. You know, this is the only time when I can come with him ……………other times being restricted to men or to women only!!
The man kept cycling as he was too busy gasping for breath to hear any thing.
I was on the cross-trainer at the extreme end of the ergo-meters and could not see the expression on the faces of four women……………………. but would have loved to do so!
