Tippie Young continues to recover from her recent illness/surgery; she is back home, eager to return to work.

Hello!  You don't know me, but I have already been mentioned once, I'm sure.

My name is Tippie Denesh'ya Young.  I live in Nashville, Tennessee, with my husband, Kirkland, and our two sons, Kirkland, Jr. (8) and Korey (3).  I work at Christ Community Assembly of God church; I work in the nursery there.

I really enjoy my time with the children; they are all so very precious!

I haven't been to work in over a month and a half.  You see, I became very sick.  An aneurysm formed in my stomach; it threatened to blow, so I had to have surgery in order to save my life.  Well, that went great; however, complications set in (staph infection), and I ended up with necrotizing fasciitis.  Flesh-eating disease.  It was really bad; I have only been out of the hospital for a week and am still quite weakened.

It is going to take a long time for me to get over this, not to mention, more surgery.  I'm not looking forward to it, but let's face it, folks:  my stomach area is a mess!

No more bathing suits (bikinis) for me!  LOL

I am here only by the grace of God, and the prayers/support from my church family.  Everyone has been so sweet, so kind, so loving during my time of illness; they continue to call, check up on me, to make sure I am doing okay.  My husband, kids, and myself have all been overwhelmed by this outpouring of generosity.  It's been incredible!

I am so blesssed to have the family I do, not only my own, but my church family.  I'm also blessed to have the love and mercy of a risen Saviour, whom I'm proud to call my Lord, my King.

As you can imagine, I have lost a lot of weight; I am down to maybe 100 pounds, max, when I used to weigh 170-200.  This darn aneurysm/illness really did a doozy on me.  While it is nice to be able to find clothes that fit and look good, getting sick is not the way to lose the extra poundage, folks!  I look like a living skeleton; I look horrid!

I can eat again, but food doesn't taste good.  Guess it's because of all the medicines that were pumped into me; they really wrecked my appetite.  I also had a nose hose for what seemed like an eternity; I never was so glad when the doctor came and removed it!  That was probably one of the best days of my life, as was getting out of that darned hospital!!

My husband and kids have been really good to me.  Husband makes sure I don't lift a finger, kids try their best to behave.  They know that mommy has been very sick, so they want to make sure to be good so mommy can get better faster.  I really appreciate the effort they are doing to make my life (recovery) so much easier!

Husband has taken leave from his job, so he can take care of me as I recover.  Money is getting tight now, but we are trusting/leaning on the Lord to provide for our needs, in which He has; He is always faithful!

Well, I am getting sleepy again, so I am going to rest (again).  Seems sleeping or spending time in bed is all I ever do, but at least it's better than the hospital, where rest is a rare thing.  Whoever said you get rest while in the hospital lied!!  LOL  I will write in here again, feel I have more of my story to tell.  Until later, this is Tippie D. Young saying so long and may God bless you always!

~Love, your friend in Nashville, Tippie.  :)

P.S.:  The piccy was one I found on the Internet; some storm chaser in Texas took it.  I found it visually arresting because it reminded me of seeing the light in a long, dark tunnel.  It is the case of my own life:  after a long, dark journey of illness and fear, there is hope on the horizon; the end of a terrible ordeal is about to be over!

*To be continued.*

A great story and most informative on specific illnesses. It's really kind of scary because as we age, we never know what we might be faced with. We just have to do our best to maintain good health by eating properly and exercising. That a great photo, too.

Outstanding write my friend, touching, sad, and very creative. I love the p.s. at the end, makes the story seem so real. The picture soes remind one of a tunnel. You put a thought on the reader's mind with this story, makes one reflect on their own life, their life after death, and makes one thankful for their health. I love how you portray the family and church in this story, I find strength in both myself. A great write my friend, well done!

Don't be distressed, after a bout on any hospital one goes bye-bye to a few pounds and the tasty home cooking is like pushing the tongue outside the window, nada! But with time all comes back, but muscles, they seems to giving up on you and you need to do something about for no go looking like a wet rag!
