Teeka Daniels updates us on what has been going on in her life. She is busy practicing for a play at her church that she is a part of; she plays the part of a child who tries to get her mother to go to church with her.

I am a part of this play: I am playing an angel. This is my second time in the play, and the third time I will have seen it. It really made an impact on me.

Hello!  It's me, Teeka Daniels, from Galveston, Texas!

Hope this finds y'all well.  I am doing good.  Think I've just about recovered from my vacation in South Carolina, where we stayed for two weeks with my uncle.  We had a wonderful time; sure hated to see it end!

I am writing this before we head on over to church.  We have play-practice tonight at seven, after the six p.m. service.  Our church is holding a presentation based on the book of Revelations.

It's called "Heaven's Gates And Hell's Flames".  From what I've heard, it is a most powerful experience.  I've never seen it, but wanted to be a part of it, so this is why I am going to play-practice.

In the play, I'm the girl who tries to get her mother to go to church with her.  No matter how much I begged her, she flat out refused to go.

Well, they both end up dying in a plane crash.  When they awaken, they're in Heaven.  There's gold and silver all around:  Heaven is a brilliant, beautiful place.  Mother and daughter see all of the angels, and mother panics.  She realizes too late that she should have listened to her daughter and gone to church with her.  Most importantly, she should have accepted Christ as her personal Saviour.

The daughter gets scared and starts crying when she realizes her mother's name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life and will be condemned to Hell.

The devil and his demons appear at the end of the stage; they end up dragging mother to hell while the little girl (me) screams.

Christ makes His appearance and the little girl (me) asks Him if her name is in the Book of Life.  He comes down the flight of golden stairs and embraces her in a warm, loving hug.  Yes, the child's name is in there.

Jesus and the little girl then ascend the stairs into Heaven, where she will live with Him forever.

The play then ends.

My scene is probably the most powerful part in the entire play.  It takes a lot of skill to be able to cry on cue and to act like you're really scared.  It is not hard to do, especially when you see the "devil" and his "demons" dragging your "mother" to hell.  That is a little unnerving, even though I know it's acting and I have to be able to know my part and/or do it well.

This is what I've read in the script.  Now we get to practice what we've read (or have been learning) for the past few weeks ever since we found out that auditions for the play were going to be starting.  It may seem like fun and games now, as there will probably be some goofing off; however, when we go to do the play, it is all serious business.  Fun is put on the back burner; it's time to get to the heart of what the message of this play is about, in a way that it will impact people when they come see it.

I'm a little nervous; this is the first acting I've done since second grade, where I played the part of a tree.  And this is my first speaking part.  I just pray and hope I remember all my lines or don't screw up; that would just be my luck!  LOL

I'm nervous about the lines I have to know, as well as standing on stage, in front of a live audience; however, the part I'm probably scared about the most is when Satan and his "demons" drag my "mom" to  H-E-double hockey stick.

I know I am going to have nightmares for weeks about that!  I will have to sleep with a night light on for the next few weeks until the play!  And probably afterwards, too!

I'm just glad I accepted Jesus into my heart when I was like eight years old.  I've been a Christian for that long, and my family has come to know Jesus, too.  So we're a complete Christian family; we don't have to worry about seeing our loved ones being dragged to hell because we all have the saving blood of Christ, and our names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Well, it's time for me to go.  I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Teeka Daniels saying bye!  Wish me luck as I go to do my part; I'm getting a little nervous!  I would appreciate it!  Thanks a lot!

~Love, your friend, Teeka Daniels.  :)

Sometimes church plays have to be a bit scary, to drive the message home. Well penned, Karen, you'll make a beautiful angel. :)
