Johnathon wishes that summer could go on forever: he is not ready to start school in a few weeks.

Dear Journal~

Johnathon here.  Sorry if I haven't been around lately; been busy getting my (required) school supplies (school starts back up the day after Labor Day), helping out with church (sign language; I sign for the deaf/hard-of-hearing congregation members), trying to stay well, and just generally being a pain-in-the-rumpus.  LOL

Seriously, I am doing fab, as my girlfriend, Rebekkah, would say.  She is my world; she's one of the things that keep me focused.  Rebekkah was in the hospital a while back, but it was only for observation; she fell.  The doctors (as well as her family) wanted to make sure she was going to be okay.  Thank God she is, but now she cannot use her artificial legs; she has to use her chair all the time (like me).

Two peas in a pod, that's Rebekkah and me!

She did scare me; when I heard that she'd gone into the hospital, I thought my world was going to cave in.  Thank God He (God) brought her through her latest scare; I don't think my heart can take too much excitement!  LOL

The weather has been beastly warm here.  Plays havoc with my breathing.  I hate sweating, smelling like a mountain man, to where people have to plug their noses whenever I enter.  If there's two things I positively cannot stand, it's stinking like b.o. or sweating like I'm in the pits of hell!!  That's nasty!!

Will be so glad when fall starts up; I am sick of summertime heat!!

I can't wait for a good heat-ending thunderstorm, where the elements go crazy!!  Then I can go on a stormchase (from my bedroom)!  LOL  Better not get out in it, not with my metal chair or my braces; instant lightning rods!  *ZzzzZZZaaaaAAAAppppPPP!!!!*

I can think of better ways of going to Heaven than ending up getting fried into a JohnnyBurger!!  Whee!!!!!  LOL

Anyway, I am well, as is my family.  I can't ask for anything more.  Daddy and mama are still working (thank goodness!), and several of my older brothers and sisters are, too:  anything to bring in extra money for this brood; you need all the extra money you can possibly get with a family of our size!

We are indeed blessed!  The only problem I am having is with the heat/humidity, and also trying to get my school stuff together, so I can be fully ready by the time the bell rings the day after Labor Day!

Oh, yeah!  I forgot:  on the day before Labor Day and on Labor Day, I will be busy helping out with the local MDA Telethon.  I will be talking to people about my condition and help man the phones.  It's always a blast; I always enjoy myself.  Maybe since I didn't get to go to MDA camp this year (thanks to the stupid swine flu outbreak earlier this year), maybe I can see some of my friends there!  Hope so; I've missed them terribly!!

I will be participating in the Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames.  I play the part of a teen using drugs at a party; I get to go to hell.  Nice.  New role for me; I have been practicing hard to remember my lines, but I don't relish the thought of Satan's demons dragging me to hell.  Maybe I can get the message across that drugs will only get you in the end; hopefully someone will accept Christ as a result of the play.  At least I know I'm not really going there; my name's written in the Lamb's Book of Life!  :)  (Hallelujah!!)

The play is later next month; we are having play practice for the next few weeks, then the week before, we will have it four more times before the "Big Show", which goes on for three consecutive nights.  So that means I get to go to hell eight more times.  :/

I only hope I don't have any more nightmares; I did the other night, the first day of practice, and I ripped my family out of bed with my screams.  It was awful!!

Ronee', on the other hand, is an angel.

Riiiiiiight.  An angel with horns!!!!

She's the good one while I'm the bad drug user.  LOLOLOLOL  Last time we had the play, SHE was the druggie and got drug off to hell.  She won't admit that, so I'll tell on her, myself.

Wants everyone to think she's perfect, I guess.  *sigh*

Well, I have to go.  We're about to eat supper.  Hot dogs with sauerkraut (toot-toot-tootsie, goodbyyyyyyyyyyyye!  LOL) and noodles.  Also a salad, and for dessert, some of mom's famous peach cobbler.  Yum!!  Gettin' hungry just thinkin' 'bout it!

This is Johnny saying Outta' Here!!  Bye!!  :)

I had to laugh at, " ... So that means I get to go to hell eight more times. :/ ...." Nothing funny about Hell, but just that line cracked me up! Johnny's attitude seems to be doing better, and that for sure is great to see! Hope it continues. Well done, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Karen,

Kids have already started school here, and there none too happy about. Being in the telethon is a very important event for this young man. Your stories always have an upbeat feeling even though life for the character isn't really that great. Super!
