I didn't think that a simple play could have such an impact on people.
I didn't know that because of this play, people's hearts and lives would be dramatically changed, including mine.
Ever since last weekend, when we presented our play, our lives (and the lives of others) haven't been the same.
Sage here. Sage McDermott. I hope you are doing well; I am doing great! In fact, I'm doing better than great: I'm doing phenomenally!! :)
Last weekend, our church presented its annual drama called "Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames". It is about the end times, the time of the Great Judgement, when people are judged by God based on what they did on earth, when they were alive.
Depending on what they did, they either went to Heaven or to Hell (hence, the play's name).
In the play, I played a part of the mob scene who mocked Jesus as He made his way down the aisle, on the way to the stage, where He would then get crucified and placed upon a cross. We yelled "Crucify Him!!" and cheered as Satan himself whipped Jesus and then nailed Him onto the Cross.
It was fairly easy. Then I had to go backstage and get ready for my next part: I was a teenager who was using drugs, me and a kid who turned out to be a pastor's son. Well, we got some drugs from a dealer, and after we took them, our heads started spinning shortly thereafter. My friend fell to his knees and complained his head was hurting; he then fell to the ground. I then fell shortly afterwards. We both died.
When we woke up from our "deaths", we were surprised to find ourselves in a strange place filled with bright light, silver, and gold. We saw angels dressed in dazzling white robes; that's when my friend panicked and told me that we should have accepted Christ as our saviour. He told me about the Book Of Life; if our names weren't in there, we couldn't enter Heaven.
We were both very scared by this time.
I thought it was a big joke until I saw Satan and his demons enter and drag my friend to Hell. Then they came after me; I started running, and they were too fast; they grabbed me and dragged me to Hell.
It was all very terrifying; it seemed too real. I started crying and begging God to forgive me for any unrepented sins; it really shook me to the core.
I must have done a good job because after the play ended, there must have been at least 100 people at the altar after the pastor invited them to come down if they wanted to accept Christ into their heart as their Lord and Saviour.
The ending scene was especially moving. The two characters of that scene had most of us in tears. A mother and a little girl were on a plane; the girl was a Christian; the mother was not. The child kept trying to invite her mother to church; the mother claimed that she was too busy, plus she didn't like the "hell and damnation" stuff, plus church people made her uncomfortable. The child kept trying to convince her mommy; that's when the plane they were on went down, and they died.
They wake up in Heaven, as I and my friend did; at the sight of the angels, the mother panics; she realizes too late that she should have listened to her little girl. The little girl realizes that her mother is going to Hell; she starts panicking too. The devil and his assistants appear; the mother screams, as does the child; she begs them not to take her mommy to Hell. They drag her off anyway, and the child, left by herself, falls to her knees, crying helplessly.
Jesus appears; He goes to the still-sobbing child, and helps her up; He lifts her face so she's looking at Him, takes her hand, and then, together, go up the stairs to Heaven, where she will be with Jesus, forever and ever.
The play ends after that; by now, people are visibly shaken.
Some are so shaken they confess their sins, ask Christ into their lives.
It was like that for three whole nights. I ended up going to Hell two more times. More people came to know the Lord; it was all terribly moving. We made a difference in reaching out to the lost by bringing them the Gospel in a clear, concise, powerful fashion.
I even saw some of my friends from school go up for salvation, and also some of the kids who used to pick on me or invite them to join their coven. The play really rattled them.
I still continue to get compliments on my acting abilities in the play from people. It really makes me feel good, to know I had some impact on people in some small, tangable way. It makes me feel so good, in fact, I think I'd like to get into acting; I think I could be a pretty good actress.
I always played games of pretend with my friends growing up; who knows; I could eventually become famous, wind up in a movie, perhaps even winning an Oscar or Academy Award! :)
And just a few days ago, some of the "coven kids" or "cult kids" came up to me, where they physically gave me hugs and thanked me for showing them the way to Christ; if it weren't for me or my fellow cast mates, we wouldn't have made them see the errors of their ways.
It's been awesome!!
Who knows what God has in store for me as a result of "Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames"? It's exciting to think about!! :)
Well, I have to go; I'm at school and I have to get back to studying; I'm at Study Hall; if the teacher catches me not studying, she'll give me a big, fat, red zero for not paying attention! I will write in here again soon; until then, this is your friend, Sage, signing off! Take care and may God bless you always!
~Love, your friend in Colorado, Sage Rainbow. :D
