Conyers, Georgia, September 23, 2009~
Maddie Wright here. Thought I would update y'all on what's been going on in our busy lives, so here goes.
Korina Grace, who is now five, is now in school: she attends kindergarten at Conyers Elementary, which is not far from our house. At first, there were tears, but she's since settled into the routine and now actually enjoys school.
Even though she is physically disabled (spina bifida-like symptoms, even though that hasn't really officially been the diagnosis), she has a will of steel: nothing or nobody is going to stop her or get in her way. She is incredibly stubborn; always has been in the nearly two years since we've had her!
Meanwhile, Kenny, eight, is now in third grade; Kaylie, nine, in fourth; and Khristmas, six, in first. So all of our kids are in school, and I get to have at least eight hours of peace/quiet, which I absolutely love!! I can get so much accomplished in eight short hours without kids hanging off of me! LOL
Speaking of kids, remember a while back, when I said we were thinking of adopting a little African boy? Well, that's going to become reality in a month or so. We have been accepted to take in a child from Kenya! We will soon have five kids: three girls and two boys!
Our child-to-be is part Maasai, and he is three years old. He has no legs; he was born this way. He's been in an orphanage since shortly after his birth. His name's Emmanuel Zacchius, and he's a little peanut of a guy with his huge, dark, dark eyes, short, kinky black hair, and sturdy build. He's absolutely beautiful!!
Korina, Khristmas, Kaylie, and Kenny all know about their new little brother; they have already started fighting as to who's going to help mommy take care of him, and they've already claimed him as their own! I don't like the fighting, but I am glad to see they are so willing to help mommy out from when Emmanuel finally does come home to our family here in America!
Emmanuel Zacchius Wright. Such a big name for a little tiny boy!! At least it's better than my neighbor's kid down the street: they adopted a boy from India; his name is Haji Terrence Adam Stephen Rodriguez-Hornsby!! That kid is only a year and a half, and his name is far bigger than he is!! LOL
I also know another lady from church who has twin girls; their names are Florence Florene Michaela and Farrah Fawnetta Mishelle! (Yuck! Who would name their kids Florence or Farrah?? Sounds more like pet names than names for human babies! LOL)
I'm just glad our kids have sensible names that are easy to say, although people keep mispelling Korina or Khristmas' names! For some dumb reason, they always want to put their first names with a C instead of a K!! It annoys me to no end!!
And then you have little Emmanuel Zacchius' name, which will take some time getting used to because his name doesn't start with the letter 'K'. LOL
We have already gotten our early Christmas gift: finding out we are going to have yet another child in our family, a precious little boy from Africa!! We are so excited we can't hardly stand it! We have been breaking our necks trying to get Emmanuel's room ready for him and getting new clothes/toys for him! We can't wait for him; we've been counting the days now for over a month, ever since we found out he was going to be ours!
It might only be late September, but for us, Christmas comes in October, when Emmanuel comes home!!
